Egyptian eyes...

Image
Another quick post on a look I came up with days ago.  Instead of my usual (dramatic) winged liner, I sort of extended the liner on the inner corner of my eyes.  This works wonders if you have round eyes, and wanted to make it look almond-shaped. I wanted to extend it a bit more, and look more like our dear Cleopatra.  But of course, I wouldn't wear that to the office! (laughs)  But who knows, maybe on a (happy) Friday. ^_^ I hope you like it! Please like me on Facebook ( IambrigittePage ) and follow me on Twitter ( Iamsutil ) and Instagram (Iambrigitte)

LOTD: Open wings....

Image
No, this isn't about flying. (laughs)  I just want to show you this eyeliner style that I've been wearing for the past few days.  I think this is called an open-winged eyeliner. Not sure though, so don't take my word for it!   ^_^ So anyways, by now I am pretty sure you are already used to my winged liner looks.  Honestly, I can say that it suits me.  I've tried doing the simple, natural way by lining close to the lash lines and without any wing.  But no, it doesn't suit me.  I have big cheeks and if I do the natural way, it just makes me look plump-ier. Doing the winged liner lifts my eyes, making it look wider giving the illusion of narrower face.  Looking back, I realized that I've been doing the winged look ever since I started lining my eyes.  But of course, it was less dramatic by only extending the line and not really doing the winged, lift look. This open winged look makes my eyes look a lot bigger because I am no...

How To: Making eyeliner on your waterlines stay put...

Image
Who loves putting eyeliner on your waterlines?  (raises hand) As mentioned on one of my recent posts, I love using a white (sometimes beige) eyeliner on my waterlines to fake an awake look.  But I hate it when my liner would disappear even before I'm out of the house!  I've been on a search for an eyeliner that would last all day on the waterlines but haven't seen one yet.  Of course, Revlon is an exception but I want one that's either white or beige.   For today, let me share with you a technique I've learned on how to make eyeliner on your waterlines stay put. On most days, I'd use a black eyeliner...but for an "AWAKE" look, I use white or flesh-tone liners What you need:  a clean Q-tip.   To make sure it's free of "himulmol" (strip of cotton) so you won't irritate your eyes, you can rub/roll it in between your clean fingers first. there's your eyeliner! But it doesn't end there.  Ge...

FOTD/EOTD: Fresh-face look for insomniacs (like me!)

Image
as you all know, i don't get to sleep a lot most especially on weekdays. i have this (severe) case of insomnia that i'll stay awake until 3-4am and get up around 7am to get ready for work. most of the time, my skin's gets so dull and tired-looking, and it's quite a challenge to keep myself looking fresh and look like i've slept a lot. on most days of the week, i try to keep my makeup at a minimum and stay away from dark shades of eye shadows to look more awake (of course, Friday is an exception ^_^). MAC Swish (lid), Espresso (crease) In2it waterproof eyeliner MAC eyeliner in Fascinating (water lines) Maybelline Magnum Volume Express mascara MAC eyebrow liner in Lingering to look fresh, shades of pink are my best bet :) i added brown eyeshadow to give my eyes some definition. EOTD: Easy neutral eyes...

what do you do when you have so little time to do your eye makeup and yet, it feels like a sin to go out without any color on your lids? use a single shade of mineral eyeshadow! minerals are pigmented and there are shades that offer a (sort of) burst of several colors, so it's not flat and boring. it's also easy to apply and blend. to make sure that the minerals stick on your lids, you can use a primer prior to application. if you don't have a primer, you can also use a sealant or spray your brush with water after picking up the pigments and then pat it on your lids. i personally like spraying my brush with MAC Fix+, and i find my eyeshadow to last the whole day even without a primer. here's my usual eotd using loose mineral eyeshadow: MAC eyebrow crayon in Lingering MAC brow set in Girl Boy UDPP mineral e/s in Wisdom (sorry, forgot the brand) Maybelline Impact Express Smooth Felt Liner Maybelline Magnum mascara MAC liner in Fascinating Obagi Oclipse sunblock/primer ...

Beauty Tip: Pillboxes for your lipsticks?

Image
I remember that mom bought me pillboxes that I can bring anywhere so I won't forget to take my vitamins (or medications) everyday. but I had something else in mind to put these pillboxes to use: nope... tadahhh! yeah dearies, I went thru the hassle (but enjoyable and exciting) of chopping off a portion of my frequently used lipsticks and melting them in this pillbox. I got this idea from a dear friend when she heard me complain about bringing tubes of lipsticks for retouch during makeup gigs. of course, during touch ups, I won't be dragging my traincase anymore and a (little) pouch should do. now, having my lipsticks in this little pillboxes spare me a lot of space in my touch up pouch for my travel sized brushes, blushes and blot powders. don't worry, this is fairly easy. just chop off a portion of your lipsticks and place it in on the slots of the pillbox. put it in your microwave, set timer to 30seconds and go! it's like having a lip palette with the shades of...

Daily Stress....

Image
are you the type of person who easily gets stressed? (like me?) or do always go thru a lot everyday that you'd end up stressed at the end of the day? Too much stress can cause no end of beauty fall-out! your face may erupt in blemishes, your skin may turn splotchy. your neck and shoulders will tighten up so you hunch when you walk, your nails are bitten to little nubs. sleep deprivation seems to have left permanent dark circles under your eyes (ouch!) and your scalp is so dry, you're scratching like a chimp. Here's how to find relief: All Wrung Out to recharge your batteries when energy is low, do what great bathing creatures of the world have done for centuries. take a hot-cold plunge. start with a warm shower, then switch to a burst of cold, then back to really warm. don't overdo it, however; a cycle of one to four rotations is enough. if you are pregnant or have high pressure, don't try this. Head & Neck Tension massage your scalp with your fingertips in sm...

Makeup Tricks that erase 10 years....

Image
wanna look (and of course, feel) younger? Try this simple color and texture changes to look younger... Erase five years: Put away the shimmer shadow Before "As you notice lines around your eyes, avoid frosted or shimmery shadows," says New York makeup artist Troy Surratt. "The sparkle highlights wrinkles and crepey, crinkly skin instead of masking." After Silky, matte shadows blend into your skin and camouflage fine lines. Sweep "a light shade of champagne or peach -- universally flattering colors -- from lash to brow to brighten the whole eye area," Surratt says. This creates a full, youthful eye. But if puffiness, especially on your lids, is your problem, Surratt suggests you use a medium shade such as taupe on the entire eyelid to add depth and create a natural-looking crease. Erase 10 years: Go glossy Before Lips get thinner and drier with age. Dark lip liner and matte lipstick draw attention to the fine lines around your lips. After ...

Bad Hair Days?

Image
All of a sudden, your hair has gone from glossy to greasy. And if you've colored it, it may feel as dry as a straw. No matter how many gels, mousses, creams or conditioners you buy, no matter how much time you spend in the bathroom with your blow dryer, your hair still doesn't look like you want it to look. And you'd end up tying it up in a pony or sometimes, covering it up with a bandanna or worse, just leave it as it is. Here are some tips for some of our bad hair day problems: Baby Fine blues To give your baby-fine hair more body, reverse the natural order: condition first and then shampoo. Oily Roots Mix equal amounts of water and alcohol-free toner in a spray bottle, shake it to blend and spritz on your roots. Then blow dry. Oily Hair Tea tree oil (or rosemary) shampoo will help absorb excess oil. Or, mix a tiny drop of tea tree oil - a great natural astringent into a palmful of your usual shampoo, then wash. Greasy Roots Massage a half-teaspoon of baby powder or co...

The eyes have it....

Image
i'm pretty sure everybody have heard this line "the eyes are the windows to our soul." but can anybody see really thru them when these supposedly windows are surrounded with dark shadows or look puffy as if we've cried endlessly? i know a lot of us have problems with dark undereye circles and eye puffiness. I myself have this terrible case of eyebags (really puffy, i think i already have like 2 layers) and not to mention, they are dark. I am insomniac, and i work at night...so probably this is something not genetic since mom doesn't have this problem, even my younger sister. And sometimes, even though i've had enough sleep, it would somehow look worse. So what a girl to do then? Here's some tips i got from Fast Beauty Fixes: How to get rid of dark undereye circles: 1. Wrap a bit of grated raw potato in a cheesecloth or slice a kiwi. Lie down and apply to eye area for 15 minutes. Pat dry. (I have personally tried this one, but i just sliced a potato and put...
