Product Review: Face of Australia Gentle Makeup Remover

One of the many things I make sure I don't run out of is a makeup remover.  With all the gunk I put on my face, mostly waterproof, it would definitely be a nightmare if I go home and find out I don't have anything to take it off with. We all know that soap and water no longer do the trick, most especially if you're a sucker for waterproof mascaras, eyeliners and long-wearing foundations.  I've tried a number of makeup removers already, and have found my favorites, but the makeup junkie in me will never stop from looking for alternatives.

For today, I'll be telling you about my current favorite makeup remover:

Face of Australia Gentle Make-Up Remover
A dual phase formula containing no Oil or Parabens.  This super gentle fluid is activated when liquid is shaken combining the two phases for the ultimate makeup removal. With a tear-compatible PH, this fragrance-free formula melts away all types of makeup including stay put and waterproof and will not sting sensitive eyes.  Contains soothing Cornflower Extract.

Whenever I see "dual-phase" on the product info, I would think it has oil in it.  But nah, this baby doesn't contain any oil. It's even paraben-free...yay! And best of all, it has Cornflower Extract known for its soothing properties and the ability to treat and lighten the skin.

One thing I hate about dual-phase makeup removers is that you really have to give it a good shake for the product to work.  Okay, I am one lazy-ass, so I think the first time I used this I didn't shake it that much (take note, that it's clearly specified on the bottle TO SHAKE VIGOROUSLY until the two phases are combined) so I ended up wiping my eyes with the cotton a number of times before I finally got rid of my makeup. My eyes kinda felt like harassed with all the wiping! I didn't like it at first...but I realized I just need to follow instructions to get good results.
^_^

So here's how to use it:

First put a few drops on a cotton pad

By the way, here's my eye makeup with longwearing eyeshadow (Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow Stick), waterproof liner (K-palette) and mascara (Majolica Majorca):

(ehem, excuse the oiliness!)

Then hold and press it gently over a closed eye, let it soak for 10 seconds or more while (gently) massaging it to help loosen the makeup.  Then again, with gentle pressure, slide the cotton downwards.

After the first attempt:

As you can see, there's still some mascara and liner left, so just go back and gently wipe off the remaining makeup.

And tadahhh:

No, it's not oil I swear!

What I like:
It is indeed very gentle! No stinging, no blurring of vision and no skin tightness when I tried removing my foundation around my eye area.
It does look greasy after but it really is not!
Removes makeup easily. It's not a one cotton-swipe, but it's a lot faster than the other makeup remover I've tried.
Fragrance-free!
The packaging.  It's simple and the clear bottle makes it easier to see how much product is left. It's lightweight too.
I tried using it to remove my false eyelashes and it was even able to dissolve the lash glue.
The price. It sells for Php425 for a 125ml bottle.  Still expensive than other brands I've tried, but the quicker removal of makeup plus the no-tear formula and the added benefit of cornflower extract make it all worth it.

What I don't like:
Not available locally.
But don't worry, you can buy it online at Updated Trends in Multiply.

I've been reading a lot of raves about the other products from this brand. Too bad I wasn't too interested with makeup yet when I stayed in Australia eons of years ago.  I wish more Face of Australia products would become available soon.

Have you tried any of their stuff?
If you do, please let me know what else is good.

Majolica Majorca Secret Blink...

Last month, I got an invite for a lovely dinner at Wildflour at The Fort, and a sneak peek of Majolica Majorca's newest chapter, Secret Blink.

Secret Blink is the first of the four chapters that will be released this year, and the collection consists of the following:

Lash Jelly Drop - Lash Expander Edge Meister - The Little Humming Book I - Skin Remaker Case 2013 (Rose Gold) - Majoromantica M (not in the picture)

I was gifted with 3 of their new products (thanks, Majolica Majorca PH!) so let me tell more you more about my new toys...

Lash Jelly Drop - The Little Humming Book I - Lash Expander Edge Meister

Lash Expander Edge Meister, Php795

This mascara is just like the original one except for this version has 4mm long black fibers (the old one has 3mm).  Like the previous version of the Lash Expander, this is a waterproof fiber-based lengthening mascara.  It has Gloss Oil for jet black, shiny lashes and Speedy Dry Oil to keep those lashes stay curled.

It still comes with a duo-comb wand to widen and separate each and every lash.  The longer comb lengthens the lashes while the smaller comb is for the corner and lower lashes.

Formulation is still sweat, oil, tear and waterproof so make sure you use a good makeup remover to take this off.
^_^

Lash Jelly Drop, Php495

A beauty nourishing essence for the lashes formulated with Arginin for repair and rose extract and glycerin for moisture.

It has a dew drop applicator wand for easy application on lash roots and even on the hairline.

Would this lengthen my lashes? No.  It's a treatment for the lashes that usually get tortured whenever we curl and apply mascara.  You can use it on its own when you don't want to put on mascara but you still want your lashes to look more pronounced.  You'll immediately notice that lashes are darker and more shiny after an application.  Probably this would keep lashes from falling off too if used for a longer period of time.

To commemorate Majolica Majorca's 10th Anniversary, the brand came up with this cute little makeup palette:

The Little Humming Book I, Php995

It's the first of four books and the rest will be presented on the remaining 3 chapters, so stay tuned!
^_^

Yes, those are real musical notes.
^_^

2 Eyeshadows: Flower Dust, Green Shower
Eye Cream Base: Moonless Night
Lip Gloss: Tulip Bed

Swatches:

I'm not sure about you, but it's not everyday that I get to see an eyeshadow base/primer that is dark.  (laughs) Same with the usual eye base,  this also adds depts and impact to your eyeshadows.

Here's how the eyeshadows in this palette look like when applied over the eye base:

Lovely (or should I say, lovelier) colors they turned out to be!  I honestly didn't think I'd be able to wear the eyeshadow colors, until I tried using them on top of the eyebase.

and here's a sample look, sorry for the lighting though:

And guess what, the eyeshadows stay put for hours!

I already have the gold edition of the Skin Remaker Case, but I'm itching the limited edition case in Rose Gold. It seems like rose gold is the "uso" color as of this time, no?  Or it just reminded me of my current lemming as of the moment...that Michael Kors watch.  (laughs) Whatever, I am so gonna get that case.

Secret Blink is already available at Majolica Majorca counters so try to check them out while they're still available (the  skin remaker case, majoromantica and the palette are limited edition).

Please like Majolica Majorca PH on Facebook to get updates on their latest product offerings and other promos.

Happy (Holy) Monday, everyone!

Shoe haul...

I want to say I am not a shoe-holic, but when I saw my shoe rack and the number of shoe boxes of those I haven't used yet, I think I'm not gonna say anything na lang.  Less talk, less mistake. So yeah, no comment!
(laughs)

Okay fine. I am addicted to shoes.  But don't get me wrong, I am still not the Imeldific-type.  I don't think I have more than 30 pairs as of the moment..okay, not more than 50.  So yeah, I am not in anyway near to being like that.  And besides, the priciest I have would be my Melissa shoes.  Oh geez, I so love their shoes.  I remember I went wacko early this year that I bought 2 pairs in just one week.  I still have a number of their shoes in my wishlist, but for now, I think I would have to make tiis for a bit (I am trying to save up for another pricey purchase for my burday, that's why) and satisfy my cravings for shoes by buying cheap, but still cutey pairs.

So where do I go for such pairs? To St. Francis Square, of course!   I'm not sure if you know where St. Francis is (not the saint ha LOL) but if not, it's just right at the back of Megamall.  I go there for cheap, but cute finds.

And here's what I got last week:

I'm not into shoe blings, but I just love its color.  It fits just right too, and it doesn't hurt my feet.  The blings are quite an attention-getter too.  I've worn it once and a number of people asked me where I got them.  I just hope I wouldn't end up with a missing bling soon.

The price?  I think this one costs Php270.

This pair screams "Summer Time!"  I love the color, nakakaputi ng feet.  What I don't like is that it's feels kinda hard at the middle of the sole.  My feet usually gets tired after an hour or more of walking continuously. So yeah, this is definitely not your shopping shoes.

The price? Php230.

And here's another buy from Payless:

I was actually looking for a pair of nude heels, and I got a very nice pair from them last year.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find one but found these flats instead.  I am such a sucker for sky-rocket heels but well, I can actually feel that my knees and ankles are not that strong and sturdy anymore so I'm trying to wear more flats nowadays. I saw these pairs come in other colors like pink, black and even white but I don't have a size in Megamall. Good thing I dropped by Glorietta and found my size!  For your info, I'm a size 5.  Don't worry, I can still stand up straight despite my tiny-weeny sized feet. (laughs)

This pair is ultra-comfy, and with its color...it can go with most of my outfit.

The price?  Less than Php700.

So what do you think, did I get a great deal out of these purchases or what?  I believe I did, except for the mustard-colored sandals.  I'm not sure how long these pairs would last on me..burara pa man din ako gumamit.  Haha!  And I know I get what I pay for so I am not complaining.  For now, these would do until I have extra moolah to buy me those Melissa again.
^_^

How about you?  Would you consider buying cheaper, less quality but okay na din-goods just to satisfy spur-of-the-moment craving to shop?  Or when you have events you need to attend and you don't have the moolah to spend on pricier outfits?

My answer to both is Yes.
Okay, shoot me now. (laughs)

Sappe Beauti Drinks: Beauty Drinks on the Go...

Have you heard about Sappe Beauti Drinks?  I asked because when I first posted it on my Instagram, a lot of people asked what it is and where is it from.  Sappe Beauti Drink is a functional beauty drink for people on the go.  It's made in Thailand, and apparently, from the same company who made the yummy (and cute) Mogu Mogu drinks.

Honestly, when I was asked thru email if it's okay to send me samples, I said Yes without reading more info about the product.  Well, ako na ang atat!  Anything about beauty (or beauti) interests me..so I gave them a go.  When I finally got the box, and saw the packaging, I was a bit apprehensive at first. Well, vain na kung vain but you can't expect me to start downing a bottle just like that. I did some research and from then on, I try to have at least one of the two variants everyday.
^_^

Now, let me tell you what these beauti drinks are all about and why they are good for us...

Sappe Beauti Drink L-Carnitine

For those who want to have enough, healthy dose of fiber each day, then this variant is for you. A bottle is equivalent to 2 big pomelos or 8 tangerines.  As you might (or might not yet) know, fiber is important to our digestive system...it also helps prevent intestinal cancer. This is one thing I need in my life...as I don't get to, uhmm..you-know-what everyday.  Another plus is that it has 86mg of L-Carnitine that helps speed up metabolism.  So in short, this variant is great for those who are trying to lose weight!   The taste? It tastes like Sprite, a non-carbonated Sprite and I actually like its taste better than the other variant.

I've had this for a number of times already (at night, mostly) and it never failed in giving me a bit of "me time" in the CR the following day.  But do take note, it doesn't give me the stomach cramps like the one you get when you take laxatives.

Sappe Beauti Drink Collagen

Our body is capable of producing its own collagen but when we hit 30, the production slows down...and that's the reason why we start to develop wrinkles and lose our skin's moisture and elasticity.  Don't lose hope though, as there are many ways to replace collagen in our body. We can pop up pills or gulp a bottle of Sappe Beauti Drink Collagen, which has 1000mg of extracted collagen from deep sea fish. I'll chose the latter anytime! It tastes like an apple drink...well, sort of matabang na apple drink.  It tastes okay and I bet, even if tastes funny, I'd still gladly down a bottle if it could help me look young and fresh. Vain kung vain!

As for the calorie content, the Collagen variant has 130calories while the L-Carnitine has 90calories. These are priced at less than Php40 each and are available in 7-11.

So for those who hates taking pills for the sake of beauty, then these Sappe Beauti Drinks are for you.  You can take them anywhere, anytime and they are refreshing too!  Best when chilled, perfect for this summer season.  Refreshing na, nakakaganda pa!  San ka pa!? (Okay, now I'm beginning to sound like a commercial)

Shiseido's Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in Pink Sands..

I've known Shiseido since college because my mom's like a walking advertisement of the brand back then.  She lived in Japan for a while and since then, Shiseido has been her Holy Grail when it comes to skincare.  And recently, we are starting to fall in love with their makeup too!

I'm fortunate to have been given a chance to try out some items from their Spring-Summer collection.   For this post, I'll be showing you their Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in Pink Sands:

housed in a sleek, shiny black case, this eyeshadow palette is so sophisticated-looking.  in short, sosyal!
^_^

don't you just love that simple, yet classy logo?

it comes with a big, clear mirror too!
it does come with a brush too...but you know me, I can be really choosy when it comes to makeup brushes.

it has these 3 lovely, blendable, silky smooth and pigmented colors that can be used either on its own or together.  The first shade can be used as a lid color, the second color for definition and the third color for highlighting.  I love using the second color as a lid wash too.  In fact, I've used it for a couple of days straight!

now for the swatches:

take note that I didn't use any primer underneath
^_^

Pink is a shade that's quite hard to work with. It's either your eyes would look swollen or tired, but the pink in this trio isn't like that!

sample looks:

2nd pan used as lid color, 1st pan used as crease color and the 3rd pan as highlighter

3rd color used as lid color

It has medium sheer pigmentation but is buildable. Perfect for those who want a decent eye makeup without going too strong.  I don't know how, but whenever I use it, I feel so feminine and sweet!
^_^

This palette costs Php1000+ (will edit this post once I get the exact price) and I can say it's totally worth its price.  It stays put the whole day without any primer too, so that's a yay for people with oily lids like yours truly.

So what do you think?
Yay or Nay?

MAC x Archie Collection is finally here!

I've always loved reading Archie.  I remember saving my allowance just to buy my own copy. Back then, these comics don't come cheap, most especially to a student.  But I didn't mind. I would happily skip my favorite burger + chocolate drink for days just to save enough moolah to buy an Archie digest. The rivalry between the best frenemies Betty and Veronica never fails to amuse me.  And so I thought love triangles only exist in comics.
^_^

So when the news came out that MAC and Archie will be collaborating, I just knew my wallet is in trouble.  I don't get to buy makeup that much anymore, but for Archie, I would.
^_^

I patiently waited for the collection to arrive.  Aside from fearing for my wallet, I'm also afraid not to be able to get anything as I'm pretty sure this collection will be a hit.  Little did I know that I didn't have to worry at all...

The universe might have heard my plea, and sent me these:

Yay, thank YOU!
^_^

No, I didn't get everything from the collection, but I am already happy with what I got. It's actually more than what I've planned to get.

So let me show you the latest addition to my makeup collection:

Oh yes, I am definitely keeping these uber cute boxes!

Pearlmatte Face Powder in Veronica's blush:

This isn't actually a blush, but a highlighter.  The powder is pearly-white with a hint of pink and matte-finish deep pink hearts.  I'm not much a fan of highlighters, so I was trying to pick up the pigment from the hearts alone...but they're so small I gave up.  (laughs)  I tried using other blush brush, but the brush that picked up the best is my MAC 187.  I use this on top of my blush for that nice, healthy glow. Parang-diosa lang!
^_^

This baby is too cute I almost didn't want to use it. It actually broke my heart right after one sweep of my brush.
(emo much!)

Powder Blush in Cream Soda:

Cream Soda is a gorgeous, soft peach blush.  I honestly thought this would be the last thing I would love in my loot, but boy, I was wrong!  I've been using it everyday for the past week and I am absolutely loving it.

pretty, isn't it?

Caramel Sundae Eyeshadow Palette:

I know you've known me as somebody who loves bonggang colors. But lately, I prefer simple shades..like neutrals or pastels.  Ohh, I am getting old!

Top: Cheryl Chic (light frosted pink), Dreammaker (warm frosted yellow)
Bottom: Caramel Sundae (satiny medium brown), Showstopper (matte dark brown)

I must say I am so happy that my genie gifted me with this palette instead of the Spoiled Rich palette.  Lately, I don't have much time to whip a Happy Friday-like kind of eye makeup, so I prefer a decent lid color that's work friendly and can look bongga with a winged liner and double coat of mascara.  I love the Caramel Sundae shade the most!

Lipstick in Betty Bright:

Betty Bright is a bright peach in satin finish. Remember me saying early this year that I'd be wearing colors on my lips as well?  Of course, MAC Peachstock would be a permanent favorite but I'd be trying my best to sport pouty, loud lips from time to time.  Betty Bright will surely keep me on that track.  Hmm, it's not too loud for you I know but for me, it already is! I'm slowly getting there...promise! (Cross my heart, and nobody has to die)
^_^

Lipglass in Strawberry Malt:

I'm not into reds but this one's an exception.  This one reminds me of my MAC lip gelee which I bought way back 2008. This one's more opaque though, and can be worn on its own or on top of a lipstick.  I've worn it on top of my Peachstock and my lips went vavavoom!
^_^

And last but not the least, Pearlglide liner in Petrol Blue:

This liner is navy blue with shimmers.  I haven't had the chance to wear it but from the looks of the swatch, I am thinking I'm gonna love it as well.

Betty Bright - Strawberry Malt - Petrol Blue

The MAC Archie's collection has already been launched in MOA, Trinoma and Makati.  If you weren't able to go, no need to worry...MAC Shangri-la will be launching this collection on Saturday, March 16.  No reservations though, it's a first-come, first-serve so be sure to come there early!

Tata!
