Playing with Makeup: Pin Up Girl/Skull Look...

I'm sure by now you are getting fed up of my Halloween makeup looks, so I think this one's gonna be my last (maybe, LOL)..

I've been wanting to do a Skull Makeup look for the longest time now but like what I've mentioned on my post yesterday, I kind of miss doing a full-faced makeup. So I thought, why not have both!?
^_^

FACE:
Lancome Face Primer
Revlon Age Defying Powder with DNA Advantage in Medium
Sleek Contour Kit in Medium
MAC blush in Tippy

EYES:
L'oreal Eyebrow Pencil
Urban Decay Naked 2 palette eyeshadows in Booty Call (lid, inner corner), Tease and Busted on the crease, lower lash line and outer corner
Maybelline Gel eyeliner
False eyelashes
Rimmel Kohl eyeliner (waterline)

LIPS:
OCC Lip Tar in NSFW

Snazzaroo face paint in Black and White
K-Palette Long Lasting Liquid Eyeliner

I must say, among my three Halloween looks for this year, this is what I like best.
How about you?

I heard there's a Halloween party that will be held here in Dubai on November 1.  They are also having a cash prize of 30000Dhs (not sure if that's the total amount of all the prizes or just the grand prize) for the best Halloween look.  I want to go, not because I wanna try to win but this would be my the first costume party that I would go to if ever.  But I don't think I can tag along Mr. X (laughs) to go with me. I wonder if Shiela (Shoutingwind) would bother either. Hahaha!

And I don't have a costume, so nah, I can't go.  But it would be nice to see lots of people in their costumes, no?  Oh geesh, at times like this I wish I'm back in Manila.  At least I can tag (or nag) Team E to come along.

Product Review: Bobbi Brown Buffing Grains for the Face...

Cleanse. Tone. Moisturize.

Hmm, I feel like something's missing.
Exfoliate!
^_^

Exfoliation is the process of sloughing off dead skin to stimulate skin turnover and give way to youthful  looking, smoother and softer skin.  For somebody who is acne-prone like me, this is something that I make sure I do at least 3x a week.  Well, that was before when I used to wear makeup everyday.  Now that I'm just at home most of the time, I exfoliate 2x a week.

I've tried a lot of brands in the past, and my favorite was that from St. Ives.  Yes, "was" because right now my favorite is this buffing grains from Bobbbi Brown:

Bobbi Brown Buffing Grains for Face
A true skincare innovation. These luxurious grains can be mixed with any Bobbi Brown cleanser or water to create a fully customized, gentle exfoliator for the face. Comes in a glass bottle with pour top for easy use.

I got this as a birthday gift from our friends in Bobbi Brown PH (Thanks, Jill!) but only started using this two months ago.  I used to get a facial + diamond peel every month but never really gotten one since I left, so I have to do some DIY scrubbing.  And wow, this product really works!

It comes in a glass bottle (not good for careless people like me) with a not so small hole, so you have to be really careful when pouring some product onto your hands.

This baby has really fine grains, and is formulated with Japanese Adzuki Bean powder that won't sweep away your skin's natural moisture.  To my surprise, my skin feels moisturized after each use!  My skin usually feels dry after I exfoliate, but with this, it's not.

You can use it on its own, for some serious dry scrubbing OR with just plain water OR you can add your favorite facial wash for an instant customized facial scrub.

Buffing Grains + Obagi Foaming Gel

Just like any other facial scrubs, go easy on using this most especially if you have sensitive skin. Don't scrub like there's no tomorrow! Do a gentle massaging in circular motions, concentrating more on areas that easily gets clogged like the nose.

What I like:
It makes my skin feels softer and smoother after each use.
Can be used with your favorite facial wash.
You only need a little per use so I think this bottle would last for 8 or more months when used 2-3x a week.  I've been using mine for two months and I think I'm not even close to having used 1/8 of it!
No scent.
No allergic reactions. I've tried a scrub before and it gave me rashes right after using it.

What I don't like:
The packaging.  I hate that it comes with a glass bottle. Well, that's just me...someone who just keeps on dropping stuff.  I also wish it comes with a smaller hole. In my first few uses, I had to put back some grains because I poured too much.
It's expensive.  It costs around Php2700 for a 28g of product (not sure how much this is here in Dubai, though).  But this baby works and you'll be able to use this for a long time, so that's fine...I guess.  Let's see when it's time for me to purchase one, Haha!

By the way, if you have active pimples, keep away from scrubbing as it will only make things worse.  I used to be really full of pimples before and I would use a facial scrub every other day, thinking it might help.  And of course, it didn't.

Playing with Makeup: Vampire...

That's my Sexy Siren look up there. But I bought a pair of fangs the other day and I don't want it to go to waste so, I did a few tweaks to my makeup...

black/purple eyeshadows on the under eyes + darker contour + darker lips

and of course, here comes a few silly selfie shots like these:

Let's add the blood:

Puyat-looking vampire!
^_^

And the fangs:

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

FOTD: Sexy Siren...

It's been a while since I last posted an FOTD here.  I stay at home most of the time and even if I go out,   I don't really wear much eye makeup except for my usual winged liner.  So when I reached out for my eyeshadow brushes yesterday (for my Chelsea Grin look) I kinda thought I might have already forgot some things about blending.  But yeah, some things cannot be easily forgotten.  Though it surely helps to do some practice every now and then.

Having said that, here's a look I came up with yesterday.  With Halloween just around the corner, I bet you are already thinking of what makeup look to wear for the parties you'd be attending. I know most of us don't really go for the scary/ghostly looks, so here's something you might want to try...I call this the Sexy Siren look.

FACE:
Benefit Stay Flawless 15-hr Primer
Clinique Even Better Liquid Foundation in Ivory
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in 001
Sleek Contour Kit in Medium

EYES:
L'oreal Eyebrow Pencil
UDPP in Eden
MAC eyeshadows in Firecracker (lids), Sketch (outer-V, crease and lower lash lines) and Jest (inner corner)
MAC Powerpoint Pencil in Industry

LIPS:
Bobbi Brown lipstick in Crushed Plum
MAC Lip Pencil in Spice

I am so loving this pair of falsies from Beauty and Minerals.  They are easy to use and feels so light, you'd forget you're actually  wearing false lashes!

I was supposed to wear this look with nude lips. But RED is a lot sexier, don't you think so?

I hope you like it!

Playing with Makeup: Chelsea Grin Halloween Makeup Look...

Hi, my Loves!  How's the week treating you so far?  As for me, not much of a difference.  I'm still unemployed and getting bored!
(laughs)

Anyways, are you attending a Halloween/costume party this week?  Here's something I came up with that you might want to try.  There's a lot of tutorials available online that you can check out, that's where I also got ideas but I still want to show you (through photos only though!) how I did mine.

Glascow Smile / Chelsea Grin Halloween Look

Chelsea Grin is a kind of torture where the victim's face is cut from the edges of the mouth up to the ears.  Then the scars will be forming an extension of what seems to look like a smile.  If you've seen Joker's face from the movie The Dark Knight, that's one example!

What you need:

Makeup

If you don't plan to be wearing makeup (like what I did), you can just skip the eyeshadows, lashes, etc.

Clear Liquid Latex + Tissue

If you don't have latex, you can also use a glue.  Just make sure it's non-toxic and safe to be used on the skin, like Elmer's Glue.

You also need a foundation/concealer and powder of your skintone to cover the latex/tissue later.

Blood

You need:
Chocolate Syrup
Red Food Coloring

It's easy, just pour some chocolate syrup into a container then add food coloring.  Start by adding a small amount of the red food coloring first, then if you think you need more red, then just add more.  The food coloring that I got is Red Rouge, and it's a dark shade of red already so I only needed to add just a tiny bit.

I started with doing my eye makeup first and applying the 3s lashes from Beauty and Minerals.  I used the style in Sunburst. For the eyeshadows, I used Parfait d Amour + Carbon from MAC. Ohh, I missed doing a full eye makeup!

I then applied a layer of latex onto my cheeks, where I want the cut to be.  Get a facial tissue, or a bathroom tissue (if you have a 2-ply tissue, use one ply only) then cut/tear it into a small piece then place on top of the latex. Apply another layer of latex then add tissue, and repeat until you have 4-5 layers.  It's my first time to work with latex/tissue so I think I've overdone this part. I should've used a smaller piece of tissue instead, just enough room for the cut with a bit of space around it. I should've layered the materials smoothly too!

Wait for the latex + tissue to dry.

Once it has dried up, you can now apply foundation/concealer to the area and to the rest of your face if you haven't done so.  Don't forget to set with powder too!

Using scissors, cut through the layers of latex and tissue but be sure to do it carefully.

To add depth to the "cut" apply a black face paint or gel eyeliner on the skin where the cut is.

I also put red face paint around the cut.

Then, add the blood...and you're done!

Make silly faces too!
(laughs)

BLEEEHHH!!

I know there's a lot of things I could've done to make this look a lot better, but it's my first time working with latex so please bear with me.  By the way, the latex has a really strong scent so if you're sensitive to such smell, you might want to use alternatives.  Also, it feels kinda warm on the skin there was a bit of itching after wearing it for almost an hour, but it went away after washing and it didn't leave me any rashes or whatever.

I hope you like this look!  I'll see if I'd be able to do more. You know, I'm really busy these days. Hahahha!

There's another Halloween look that I did some 4 years ago, check it out here.

Tata!
