Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy and Expressionist...

I miss doing nail art.  I remember when I got so into it, I would change my polish as often as every other day.  I wish I can do it as often, but well, I simply can't.

Good to know that a lot of brands are now coming up with nail polishes that can be used to create nail arts easier.  I've tried the BYS Glitter Dust for Nails and it's such an easy way to have glamorous, red carpet-worthy tips in no time.

And then I got these nail art polishes from Revlon, which I'll be showing you for today's post...

Revlon Moon Candy in Orbit

Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy in Moon Dust

These Moon Candy Nail Art polishes has a creme polish at one end and another end with iridescent flakies. The creme polishes are really opaque that one coat is already enough. Now to apply the flakies on top of your base can be difficult and quite messy.  First because it can be hard to get a good amount on the brush.  I actually kept on putting the brush back in several times to get a decent amount.  Second, you need dab, not swipe the flakies onto your nails.  If you swipe, you'll just keep on getting the flakies off.

After applying, you might still find some of the flakies sticking out even with a top coat on.  To avoid this, make sure all the flakies are laid flat.  The finish may look bumpy but once you apply your top coat, it'll be fine.  I really like these polishes, and I did get a lot of compliments when I was wearing them.  Somebody even said my nails look like the outer-space...LoL!

Revlon Nail Art Expressionist in Vincent Van Gold

The Nail Art Expressionist is also a dual-polish set but the other end has a slightly thinner brush that can be used to do any sort of design or detailed work on your nails.  I am so happy with the shade that I got, the purple and gold combo is so pretty.  And yes, drawing lines and dots are so easy with the thin brush.  Actually, this design that I came up with looks a lot prettier than when I use my nail art brushes.  Some may find it a bit hard to draw while holding another jar of polish on the same hand.  I did at first, but I eventually got the hang of it.

I also got a Nail Art Neon but I haven't used it yet.  Maybe soon!
^_^

Overall, I am liking these polishes from Revlon. For only Php375 each, you can have a pretty good nail art in a breeze.

Eau de Lacoste Pour Femme...

Eau de Lacoste Pour Femme

Lacoste's newest fragrance for women is a tribute to the brand's most iconic achievement, the pique polo shirt.  I remember how hard I fell in love with their white pique polo shirt the first time I saw it on a mannequin.  It simply looks so elegant, sporty without looking too casual and well, it indeed looks sosyal.  Too bad, I still can't bring myself to buy one poloshirt for that price.  If it's makeup, then that's a different story. (laughs)

Anyway, going back to the perfume...
^_^

Top Notes:

White pineapple and Mandarin

Middle Notes:

Floral notes of orange blossom, pineapple flower and jasmine

Base Notes:

Vanilla and Sandalwood

The scent is deliciously soft, creamy and floral with just the right touch of fruitiness.  You can immediately smell the pineapple and can be a bit strong when first sprayed on the skin, but the sweet and warm base of vanilla makes me want to sniff it all day long. It's addictive, or maybe it's just me, since I love vanilla.  For me, it's perfect for day time.  But of course, it can also be great for a date night scent.  It's not a sexy scent, rather it's charming and almost playful. Parang pa-cute lang on the first date.

^_^

The bottle is as chic as the scent, inspired by the shape of a tennis ball and the cap a reminiscent of the petit pique fabric of their polo shirts.  Simple and yet, elegant...exactly the ideologies of the brand.

The scent stays on my skin for a long time.  It does become softer and lighter after a few hours, but it stays on.  I swear, I can't stop smelling myself whenever I'm wearing it.  It's that addicting!

Amy Adams was chosen as the face of this new fragrance.  Like the perfume, she exudes simplicity, elegance and natural sensuality.  Even her makeup on the campaign looks so refreshingly natural and clean.

Eau de Lacoste Pour Femme is available in 30ml (Php3000), 50ml (Php4250) and 90ml (Php5650).

Hmm okay, now I'm re-considering buying myself that polo shirt.

Something New: Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation...

Last year, I fell in love with Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish Foundation.  It's the foundation I use whenever I'll have somewhere to go to after a long day at work. With that foundation, I am assured that my skin's at its best from morning 'til night without having too worry too much about retouching.

This year, Bobbi Brown came up with another foundation that with just a few times of using it, made it again in my "Must-Have" list...

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation

Now, one of my favorite foundations come in a fuss-free compact.  It has a sponge, so you can look polish anytime of the day.  No need to bring a separate brush or sponge for retouching.  That is, if you ever need to retouch.  This baby, like its liquid counterpart assures you of skin that looks good from morning til night.  Unlike other cream foundations that I've tried, this one is so lightweight and yet it can cover all your skin imperfections without looking cakey.

Warm Sand

This compact foundation doesn't have SPF, which I think won't be too much of an issue because both my moisturizer and my primer has SPF.  At least no worrying about white cast when using flash in photos.  But I don't remember having that issue when using its liquid counterpart.

Another good thing about this is that it's Vitamin-enriched. It has Vitamins C and E, both powerful antioxidants to protect skin against future damage.

Shades available:
Warm Ivory, Sand, Warm Sand, Beige, Warm Beige, Natural, Warm Natural and Honey

Price:
Php2400

Check it out now at a Bobbi Brown counter near you.

Product Review: K-Palette 1Day Lash Perm Volume Curl Mascara..

BOOH!

Okay, don't panic.  I'm not having convulsions, I'm just showing off my lashes!
^_^

And no, they're not falsies...they're my real lashes, volumized and curled to perfection with the help of:

K-Palette 1Day Lash Perm Volume Curl Mascara

Like the first one, the 1Day Lash Perm Long Curl Mascara, this is also waterproof. It promises volume, long lasting curls and yet, easy to remove.  Like the other new K-Palette products that came out recently, it also has beauty essences that will take care of your lashes while creating impressive curls with volume.

The inner curve in the brush is for sweeping the lashes in an upward curl while adding volume instantly. See the shorter brush bristles at the side?  Brush them against your lashes in an upward zigzag motion for more volume.  Lastly, use the fine tip of the brush on your shorter lashes.

That's two coats of mascara after curling.  It did weigh down the curl a bit, but at least the curl looks more natural. I usually curl my lashes too much until I can feel them touching my upper lids when I look up.  (laughs)

What I like:
It gives volume
It's waterproof, yet easy to remove.  I can easily remove it with just wet wipes
It doesn't clump easily.  Well, at least not for the first 2-3 layers.
It stays put the whole day
No flaking
Easy to use
Cute packaging
Brush is poke-free. Well, I haven't poked my eyes when using it unlike other mascaras I've tried
Affordable at Php895.

What I don't like:
It weighs down the curl.  But just do what I do: Over-curl your lashes then apply coats of this mascara.  The curl will "relax" and you'll end up with natural-looking curled lashes.
^_^

Will I re-purchase?
Yes. When I get to finish the rest of my mascaras.

Product Review: Benefit Fakeup Concealer

'twas around January (or Feb) when I first heard that Benefit is coming up with a new concealer that doesn't cake or settle into fine lines, and that will give that amazingly concealed and brightened under eye area.  And for someone like me who's cursed with a wrinkled, dark under eye area...it means SALVATION! So yeah, I actually went gaga for months because the amazing product is due to be launched in April.  To wait that long for something that will help me deal with my beauty problems is not my cup of tea. Me, wait?  DUH.

But I did.
(laughs)

Oh well, I didn't have any choice.  But I was told that this product is really good that it's gonna be worth the wait. So when I finally got my hands on it during the Bloggers Launch, I instantly knew it's something I'm gonna love to bits.

Benefit Fakeup Concealer

A hydrating crease-control concealer with Vitamin E and Apple Seed extract that hides dark circles and diffuses fine lines for a silky smooth, ultra-natural look.

The Fakeup concealer is available in 3 shades: Light, Medium and Dark

Benefit Fakeup Concealer in Medium

Unlike others, the concealer is wrapped in a moisturizing balm.  So when you swipe/glide the product on your skin you get a mix of moisture and a concealing effect.

I first thought Medium would be dark on me since I normally get a shade lighter than my actual skin color because I am acidic.  But after checking the swatch of the lightest shade, I knew it's not for me. For reference, I use NC25 in MAC. A friend of mine who's an NC40 uses the Medium and it still suits her. So I think Medium is the most versatile, or can I say, the (almost) universal shade among the three.

Now let's see how it fares on my uber-dark undereye area..

Oh yes, this is what happens when you only get to sleep 4hrs everyday during weekdays.  So beware!  In Tagalog.."Wag tutularan!"
^_^

How I use it:  I swipe it a few times on my under eye are then blend it in using my ring finger.  When I first tried swatched it at the back of my hand, I find it slippery and too creamy.  I honestly thought this would crease like crazy after just a few minutes.

Before and after shots of my under eye area:

What I like:
It does an amazing job of concealing and brightening my under eye area!  I can actually  get the same effect using other brands but what makes this product good is that I don't need to pile layers to cover up those dark shadows
Aside from the concealing effect, it also hydrates the under eye area. It's actually like a tinted eye cream!
It feels light on the skin
Easy to blend.  Some might have a hard time blending it.  Just remember that after swiping it on your under eye are, you dab it on to blend using your ring finger...not swipe.
It offers light to medium coverage
The illuminating effect diffuses fine lines making it less visible
Purse-friendly, cute packaging
Fragrance-free

What I don't like:

I can only make it work on my under eye area.  I've read that some people uses it to conceal redness on the rest of their face.  Not in my case though. I find it too sheer for that purpose.
It won't work for those with really dark shadows under the eyes.  You'd need to top it off with another concealer, like Boi-ing
It creases a wee bit on me after a few hours...only if I use a separate eye cream prior to applying my foundation and then this.  But if I don't, this baby won't budge the whole day.  Of course, I still need to set it with a bit of powder.
The product can get used up easily because of its texture.
It sells for Php1300, which is a bit expensive. But come to think of it, it's like having an eyecream and a concealer in one. So I guess, it's still worth its price.

Will I buy again?
Yes.  I haven't tried using it on my clients with mature skin and really dry under eye area but I am pretty sure this would really work for them.

To help keep it from creasing, apply lightly and build the coverage if you need more.  Dab to blend, not swipe. And lastly, wait for a couple of minutes for the product to sink into your skin before setting it with a bit of powder.

Power and Beauty Bio-Aesthetiq Essentials...

Do you take vitamins or any kind of supplements?  Well, I do.  I mean, I sometimes do.  (laughs) Mom got me a bottle of supplement for the hair, skin and nails but I just keep on forgetting to take it.  I think Mom needs to get me something for my memory instead.
^_^

I know that we need all the necessary vitamins and minerals to keep us going, and to keep us in tiptop shape.  We are actually supposed to get them from the food we eat. But because of our busy schedules, not to mention that most people are watching their diets, we don't get as much as we need.  So, supplements are the way to go.  They can help assure that we get an adequate dietary intake of essential nutrients.  However, we should be reminded they are just there to complete what's lacking from our diet, not to totally replace the food we must eat.

Last month, I got a package from Power and Beauty, an online seller of different brands of health and beauty supplements. I sort of forgot about it until I started feeling a lot more restless and sickly these past few days.  I then decided to really check out what's inside, and found something more than just tablets for some vanity fix.

(Thanks Power and Beauty for this generous box of samples!)

Let's check the products that I got, shall we?

Source Naturals Sublingual Glutathione
Php1600/100tabs

Glutathione is not new to me, as I used to take it years ago because 1) I just want to be whiter and 2) I work on a night shift so I need something to keep my skin from looking losyang.  I tried both oral and IV, and I'm really satisfied with the results.  I stopped because I realized that my budget allocated to it is better off spent somewhere or something else (laughs) so I bid goodbye to my dream of having that "kutis-artista" skin. Besides, you can also get the same results from living and eating healthy.  It takes longer though.

What intrigued me about this particular Glutathione is that it's sublingual...meaning, you take it by placing it under your tongue. Call me ancient, or naive, but this is the first time I encountered such.  Apparently, the medication is transferred directly into the bloodstream thru the mucus membranes of the mouth bypassing the digestive tract, making it 100% absorbed. None is wasted, hence the results are faster and more immediate.

NOW Natural Resveratrol
 Php1300/60caps

A member of a group of plant compounds called polyphenols, Resveratrol has antioxidant properties that protects the body against damages linked to increased risk conditions such as cancer and heart disease.  It can be found in the skin of red grapes, berries and peanuts.

Other benefits include:
Reduces inflammation of bad cholesterol that causes platelets stick together that would eventually lead to heart attact
Limits the spread of cancer cells
Protects nerve cells from damage that can lead to Alzheimer's
Prevents insulin resistance that leads to diabetes

I've read a lot of good reviews online from people who have been taking this supplement.  They say that they feel less tired, and there's a noticeable increase in their energy level. Those who have been suffering from arthritis pains also felt a lot better after weeks of taking it.

Source Naturals Acetyl L-Carnitine
 Php1400/30tabs

Acetyl L-Carnitine, or ALCAR, supports cellular energy production which helps boost physical and mental energy. Carnitine is also known as being an effective treatment for people with heart and vascular disease and memory impairment or neuropathy.  And yes, it's also known as a weight loss supplement.

Life Extension Glutathione, Cysteine and C
(Php1200/100 tabs)

Cysteine has a lot to offer:

It aids in the formation of skin, hair and nail tissue repair
It helps protect the brain and liver from damage that can be caused by drugs, alcohol and cigarette smoke
It is used to counteract paracetamol overdose
Reduces the accumulation of age spots
Promotes healing after surgery and severe burns
Promotes burning of fat and building of muscle
Breaks down mucus in the respiratory tract for the treatment of tuberculosis, bronchitis and emphysema
Promotes activity of white blood cells
Helps promote the formation of glutathione, which is a powerful antioxidant that plays an important role in liver detoxification

I haven't started taking any of the samples sent to me because of course, I won't be putting anything in my mouth without doing some research first.  Apparently, these brands are good and there are a lot of people who have been using it, and getting great results.  I think I'll take the sublingual glutathione soon because it really is something new to me and the one with Resveratrol, because I notice that I easily get tired than usual.  Ugh. Signs of aging, I know!

Aside from oral (and injectible) supplements, PowerandBeauty also have an anti-aging cream and serum available.

Reviva High Potency Collagen Serum
Php1300

With a high percentage of soluble collagen, this serum not only helps increase the skin's moisture level but it also helps to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Serums have smaller molecules making it easier to penetrate into the skin and deliver potent doses of active ingredients.  It can be used alone or applied after toning and before moisturizer.

Please do check out Power and Beauty in Facebook and their online store and you might find something that you need.  I'm not sure if it's still ongoing but you can get a 5% discount by liking them in Facebook and following them on Instagram.

Stay happy and gorgeous, my loves!

Something New: HURRAW! Lip Balms....

Ask me to choose between a lipstick and a lip balm and I'll choose the latter.  My lips easily get dry, despite my oil-slick face, and I tend to lick off lipstick so lip balms are my best bet. Two weeks ago, I was contacted by Rebecca, the official distributor of the newest lip balm in town, called HURRAW! and asked me if she can send me samples.  She even asked me to choose the variants I wanted to try, cool huh!?

Two days later, I got my samples:

HURRAW! Lip Balms

I've tried a lot of lip balms already, but these HURRAW! lip balms are different.  Unlike most of the brands that I've tried, they are:

Vegan: No animal used, harmed or tested in any stage of the manufacturing of the product.
Made of Raw, Organic and Fair Trade materials: It contains certified organic, cold pressed and centrifuged extracted nut/seed oils and butters.
Gluten-free and GMO (Genetically Modified Organism)-free
Non-toxic: There are no petroleum (gives shine to glosses and linked to health problems like cancer), parabens, preservatives, artificial flavors or colors.

Their core ingredients include:
Almond oil - moisturizes, soothes, softens and reconditions your lips
Coconut Oil - moisturizes, and a great free radical buster and soothes chronic lip inflammation
Cacao Butter - aside from making the balms smell divine, it also moisturizes and improves skin elasticity
Jojoba Oil - for easy absorption
Olive Oil - anti-inflammatory, heals, soothes and makes lips stay soft and supple
Candelilla Wax - provides long-lasting protective shield
Flavors - derived from 100% natural resources like pure essential oils
Infusions - made with a variety of seeds, pods, fruit zests, barks and roots to for flavor and color.

I only got one lips but I definitely have a purpose for all these!
^_^

HURRAW! Grapefruit Lip Balm, Php250

Fruity, fresh and gives me that burst of energy whenever I apply it on.  It's an instant pick-me-upper whenever I feel sleepy!

HURRAW! Green Tea Lip Balm, Php250

I don't like green teas that much, but this baby's definitely an exemption. The green tea taste is subtle and doesn't taste artificial.  No, your puckers won't smell grassy at all, it's more of caramel-y and between this and the grapefruit variant, I find myself reaching out to this more often.

HURRAW! Sun Protection Lip Balm with SPF15, Php350

I confess that I tend to take my lips for granted. Well, I do exfoliate once in a while and I don't wear too much lipsticks but most of the lip balms I've tried have no SPF.  With the scorching heat of the sun almost all-year round (here in PH), to give your puckers sun protection is a must.  I remember using a lip balm with SPF and my lips went drier than usual...up to the extent of peeling.  I don't know, maybe it has something to do with the zinc oxide in it?

This balm from Hurraw! has non-nano zinc oxide that serves as a natural sunscreen base.  It also has antioxidant ingredients like pomegranate seeds, sea buckthorn oil, red raspberry seed oil to protect and nourish the lips. And tangerine and chamomile extracts for that right amount of punch for your lips.  It stays put even after a cup of coffee but it does leave a whitish layer on the lips, which I don't really mind since I can always layer with a lipstick. Or, just leave it as it is since it goes away after some time.

HURRAW! Moon Night Treatment Lip Balm, Php350

As we all know, it's during night time when our skin replenishes itself.  The same goes with the lips.  At night, our lips must be given that extra TLC and be readied for another day of lipstick and whatever it is you put on.  It has a thicker, creamier formulation and has Vanilla and Peru Balsam to calm nerves and induce sleep.  And of course, nourishing ingredient like chamomile extract to soothe the lips through the night.

Unlike the usual lip balms, these don't come in round packaging. It is housed in a flattened-oval packaging that makes it a lot pocket-friendly. Also, no running after a rolling lip balm once it falls off your pocket! Guys don't have to be caught with a lipbalm-looking thing in their pockets too.  It does look (and shape like) a mint dispenser to me. And the best part about its shape?  It really contours to the shape of the lips perfectly during application.

The tube is sealed with that small piece of paper packaging that just needs to be peeled-off.

It applies smoothly, not grainy and is long lasting.  It's not sticky and doesn't give your puckers that "I've just eaten lechon" -- look.  It has the right amount of gloss in it so even the guys won't be too conscious to wear it.

Ingredients are listed on each and every lip balm packaging. Their packaging, made of recyclable corrugated material, is simple and neat. I love that it comes in a semi-matte type of paper, giving an over-all eco-friendly look.

HURRAW! lip balms might be a bit more expensive than most of the lip balms out there, but with all the good stuff in it, not to mention its being vegan and organic, these new lip balms in town are worth their price.  Honestly, I've never been addicted to lip balms like I am now with HURRAW!  I'm thinking of getting their Cherry tinted lip balm next.  Hopefully, more variants would become available here, like the Chocolate and Coffee Bean.

I am not sure whether HURRAW! will be available in stores, but for now, you can get your HURRAW! fix from Cutieverse. I don't really persuade others to get a certain product as I am not sure if you'd like it as much as I do, but this one's gonna be an exemption.  Do check it out and I bet, you'd like it too!

Happy Friday, loves!
