My "Getting Ready for 2013" Looks...

Emerald is the color for the year 2013...and lucky me, it's my birthstone too!  Aside from that, green definitely tops my list when it comes to eyeshadows as it really brings out my brown eyes.

So here's my latest look using greens...

I am pretty sure I've done this look before.  Sorry for that, but I just can't get enough of these pretty green eyeshadows from MAC.
(Juxt, Bitter and Humid)

And yes, it's the look I wore with two of my most recent hairstyles:

Tell me, which of the two hairstyles would you prefer?

Product Review: Bobbi Brown Eyelash Curler

Don't you hate it whenever your eyelids get pinched because of your eyelash curler?  I've had my share of such moments too!  Fortunately, my constant practice helped.

But for those who haven't mastered the art of eyelash curling, here's one eyelash curler who would make you say "Why only now!?"
^_^

Bobbi Brown Eyelash Curler

I love that it comes in metallic black, sleek and sosy!

perfect size and shape for those with almond-shaped eyes

it covers my entire eye, and I don't have to go back to curl the lashes I've missed!  I also love that it doesn't remove some of eyeliner after using it.

curls my lashes easily, and the curl stays on

my lashes after wiping my eye area with a wet tissue...see how my lashes are still slightly curled

And yes, I don't get pinched at all.  No pulling either! It also comes in a black pouch and two replacement pads. (see here)

The only thing I don't like?  Hmm, because it's black, I don't get to see my lashes when I am curling them. But yeah, it's just a teeny-weeny reason not to like it.

I'm not sure how much this is, probably a thousand bucks or more.

Something New: Revlon

I totally get excited whenever a favorite brand of mine comes up with new stuff.  And honestly, I always look forward to what's Revlon going to come up with.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, Revlon's one of the best...if not the best, drugstore brand out there.  And just when we thought we've seen the last of their new products, Revlon came up with these new stuff as their last (maybe?) hurrah for 2012:

Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage powders and concealer, Revlon Colorstay Overtime Lengthening Mascara and Smokey Shadow Sticks.

Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Powders
Our ultra fine powder helps skin feel conditioned and look luminous, minimizing the appearance of discoloration due to the signs of aging.  This deluxe pressed powder glides on seamlessly and feels lightweight on the skin.  Skin looks smoother, conditioned and it does not settle into fine lines, wrinkles and pores.

I love Revlon powders, most especially their Colorstay pressed powder and two-way foundation powder.  Their age defying line is definitely intriguing, and can I just say, a must-have for aging women like me!  (laughs)

Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Concealer
Targets undereye puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles.  Won't settle into skin creases, hydrates and brightens for a revitalized look.

Another product I love from Revlon is their concealers, specifically their Age Defying Spa concealer.  I'm on my 3rd tube now and it's really one of my must-haves.  Let's see if this new concealer would be able to take its place.

Revlon Colorstay Overtime Lengthening Mascara
A mascara for long, intensely dark lashes that lasts for 24hrs.  No flakes, smears or smudges.  Tear-proof, sweat-proof and humidity-proof

To be honest, their mascaras are a hit or miss.  Most of their mascaras that I've tried weighs down my curl (which I really hate), but this one doesn't.  I've tried this once and I'm so impressed with how it really made my lashes look longer, without losing the curl.  So yeah, this one's definitely a hit!

Revlon Colorstay Smokey Shadows Sticks
Expertly coordinated shades blends perfectly for a smokey eye that lasts.  Wears for up to 12hrs, and doesn't crease, fade or smudge all day.

Love smokey eyes, but you just don't have the time to do it?  No problem. These shadow sticks are heaven-sent.  Apply the round-tipped end from lashlines up to past your creases (or below your brow bones) and then line your lashlines using the pointed end.  Smudge, and blend. It's that easy.  And you don't even have to worry about the color combinations, they have been expertly selected for you!

So what do you think?  Would you be snagging these babies anytime soon?

I was walking around the mall the other day and I saw something new again from Revlon!  Geesh, they never get tired huh!  Those new stuff are candy-colored, and according to Revlon, they really stay put.  You have an idea what they are?
^_^

I'll post it soon, as I wasn't able to contain myself and got myself one!  (laughs)

Let me know if you've tried any of these.  And yes, please do watch out for my reviews.

Tata!

What's in my SOS Beauty Kit...

I believe that most, if not all beauty bloggers, have already had a "What's in my makeup kit" kind of post.  I already had two (here and here) and today, I'll be showing you what's in my newest makeup, I mean SOS beauty kit.
^_^

By the way, SOS is an international code signal of extreme distress, mostly used by the ships at sea.  Now, it's being used whenever someone needs help...and as I've mentioned earlier, I'll be showing you my SOS beauty kit.  SOS because the contents will give you an instant beauty fix. You know, when you just don't have all the time in the world to finish all your beauty rituals. (wink)

so what's in this gorgeous SOS beauty/kikay kit?

NARS blush in Orgasm, Chanel lipstick in Gabrielle, Maybelline Falsies mascara and of course, the CloseUp White Now toothpaste and an Acca Kappa toothbrush

Nars blush in Orgasm
Considered to be a universally-flattering peachy-pink shade and a favorite pick-me-up color, a swipe of this gorgeous blush can instantly bring color to your cheeks. If you want a natural-flush with a bit of shimmer to give your face that luminous look, grab this shade and you'll surely not go wrong.

Chanel Rouge lipstick in Gabrielle
Wanna look good without too much effort?  Use a shade of red that perfectly fits you.  You'd look fab in seconds, and you'll get an instant boost of confidence too!   And I'm pretty sure you know that red lipstick helps in making your teeth look whiter too!

Maybelline The Falsies mascara
Eyes looking tired and sleepy?  Worry not.  Give your lashes a curl and a swipe or two of your favorite mascara to give your eyes a more awake look.

And of course, give your choppers that instant whitening fix using CloseUp White Now toothpaste.  Yep, it can whiten your teeth in an instant!

Thanks to its patented Blue Foam Technology that creates an invisible barrier around the tooth enamel giving it a temporary whitening effect. It conceals the yellowness of the teeth, quite the same way how green concealers work on our nasty, red breakouts. Yes, the effect is temporary.  But since it helps in breaking down those hardened stains, your teeth can really whiten over time.  Of course, it still depends on the what you eat or drink...or if you smoke too. But really, this toothpaste is an instant fix. So don't forget to include it in your kit (it now comes in a small tube, yey!) and brush away those stains before you go to a meeting or a date.

Now, all I need is a pack of my favorite oil-blotting sheets in this SOS beauty kit and I am good to go.  If I could squeeze in my eyebrow kit, it would be much better.
^_^

Thanks to Bridges and Closeup for the awesome lunch at Mr. Jones and this gorgeous beauty kit.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Hi, my dear readers!  Sorry for not being able to post as much these past few weeks.  I know I already sound like a broken record but, I'll try to make it up to you soon.

For now, let me greet everybody a...

Very Merry Christmas!

of course, my family wants to greet you too!
^_^

(I seriously have no idea what's up with my pose, LoL!)

So, what did you do last Christmas Eve?  In my case, I spent it at home with my family. We had our Noche Buena and of course, the opening of the gifts. And for the first time, we had a mini-reunion at home on Christmas Day with my mom's siblings and our cousins.  It was really fun!  Now, I'm looking forward to celebrating New Year because everybody (well, not really..but, almost) will be there.  We'll have videoke, so yeah...I better start practicing my vocals.  (laughs)

Again, Merry Christmas to you all!
I love you!

Product Review: Tarte Clean Slate Flawless Brightening Primer

For someone who doesn't get to sleep for more than 4hrs a day (like me!), having dull skin is a usual thing. But of course, you don't need to suck it up! Here's one product that has been helping me achieve that bright, fresh-looking skin despite the lack of sleep...

Tarte Clean Slate Flawless Brightening Primer

A waterproof, 12-hour primer helps makeup stay in place longer while brightening skin for a healthy, glowing complexion.

This  hydrating base not only helps keep your makeup in place for up to 12 hours of perfect wear time, it's also a quick fix for tired or sallow skin—just one application gives the appearance of a healthy, youthful complexion. The lightweight texture is ideal for a base under foundation to wake-up your makeup but can also be worn alone as a treatment to counteract dullness. Whichever application you choose, skin is left smooth, feeling hydrated and looking flawless.

It has Vitamins A and E, natural preservatives that also act as anti-inflammatory emollients to fight free radical damage and prevent premature signs of aging while brightening skin.

I've been using it almost everyday since I got it months ago and have also used it on some of my clients, mostly those with matured, dry skin...and all of us have only one thing to say about it...LOVE!

The packaging is lightweight, portable and comes in an easy-to-squeeze tube

It comes off first as a shimmery white lotion...

that when you try blending, becomes a sheer, purplish-pink in color

but gets absorbed by the skin quickly, without any noticeable shimmer

What I Like:
The smell. It's kinda citrusy, very refreshing that I look forward to putting it on every morning before my makeup.
Lightweight and hygienic packaging that really lets you control the amount of product you get from the tube
It goes on smoothly, and gets blended on the skin easily
Really helps in brightening up the face, making it look hydrated, fresh and looking well-rested (which is a must for ME!)
It has anti-aging properties...yey!
Despite the light consistency, it has silicon, but it's not thick or heavy on the skin
No allergic reactions
Gives skin the soft-focus look without any shine, therefore looking flawless and more even
Can also be used on the undereye area to help with the discoloration, so you don't need as much concealer after
I know it's supposed to be hydrating, but it does help keep my oiliness at bay.  I think my face can look oil-free (dewy, yes) for a good 3-4hrs.

What I don't Like:
Well, it's addicting.  I just love its citrusy scent that I end up putting on more. (laughs)
It's kinda expensive at Php1450 for a 30ml tube.  But you only need a little, so I'm sure this tube will last 3-4 months (or more) even if used everyday.
It doesn't have SPF, which I really don't mind.  I put on sunblock first before primer and most of my foundations/powders have SPF anyway.

By the way, it has "Berry Bright," that delivers natural arbutin which helps to inhibit skin pigmentation.  So your skin will really brighten up, and look more even after some time.

Now, do I look puyat at all to you?
(just don't mind the eyebags, please)
^_^

Tarte is not available locally, but you can buy this, and other Tarte products (and more!) from StuffinStyle.  Check them out, they also have an ongoing holiday sale!

Egyptian eyes...

Another quick post on a look I came up with days ago.  Instead of my usual (dramatic) winged liner, I sort of extended the liner on the inner corner of my eyes.  This works wonders if you have round eyes, and wanted to make it look almond-shaped.

I wanted to extend it a bit more, and look more like our dear Cleopatra.  But of course, I wouldn't wear that to the office! (laughs)  But who knows, maybe on a (happy) Friday.
^_^

I hope you like it!

Product Review: Fairydrops Volume Burst Mascara (Waterproof)

Fairydrops Volume Burst Mascara

A volumizing waterproof (for Waterproof Type) or water resistant (for Film Type) mascara; contains Volume Up Powder, Wax and Fiber that provides a strong curl that lasts all day.  Waterproof is also sweat and tear proof, good for marine sports. Film type is water resistant.

don't you love the packaging?
^_^

This mascara has a unique brush, called the "3 Teardrop" wand.
So, what makes it unique?

  •  The 3 teardrop brush catches even the tiniest lashes from the roots and lashes are bitten between the balls and sharp triangular bunches are made.
  • Thick at the bottom of the lashes and sharp at the ends of the lashes= DOLL like lashes!!!
  • It pushes the lashes up thus, making all-day beautiful curls and without clump.

Here's an easy-to-understand illustration on the product's packaging:

Let's see if this mascara is really good.  I've been reading a lot of good things about it for months and finally, I was given a chance to try it.  Thanks to Cheryl of BeautyBox Corp!
^_^

there goes my bare lashes.  I wasn't able to take a picture after curling it, though.

How to use:

I start at the base of my lashes that are on the innermost, then wiggle the wand on its way up.

I do the same on the lashes on the other side

and here's the result after just one coat:

What I Like:
the packaging
the shape of the wand makes it easier to get into all corners of the eye ensuring every single lash is covered
I like it's consistency: thick, clay-like that's a little dry so it doesn't weigh the curl down
It dries quickly
Lightweight
No smudging, no flaking
Waterproof!  There's another variant which is water-resistant.  I haven't tried that though so I really can't say if it's indeed water-resistant.
It has fibers that really helps in volumizing and making your lashes look longer
It curls the lashes a bit even without using a lash curler.  But I prefer curling my lashes first,  as I am always for sky-high lashes!
I love using it on my lower lashes, makes them look more defined and extra-long

What I Don't Like:
tends to clump if you don't apply it correctly. so make sure you apply starting from the base, then wiggle the wand on its way up.  If you want another coat, make sure to do it quickly as this dries up quick
For a price of Php950, it's a bit expensive.
Can be time-consuming to remove for those who aren't used to using waterproof mascara.  I use my trusty ponds cold cream, and it does the job..so I am not complaining!

So what do you think? Is this mascara worth it?
