Product Review: ELF Powder Brush

Image
i tried some ELF brushes before, found them to be scratchy and not being able to distribute the pigments very well...in short, i didn't like them at all. there were some products that i did like..but their brushes, a big No. until this: This new anti bacterial, synthetic haired Taklon brush is softer and more absorbent and can be used with wet or dry products. Be a professional makeup artist and create a flawless look with this e.l.f. studio brush! Creates a professional sculpted look Full coverage color Use for powder or blush for perfect contouring Vegan Friendly (photo and product blurb taken from their site ) i didn't know this brush even exists. i've been seeing a lot of posts about their Studio line makeup and brushes but never really checked into it. A friend sent me this brush on one of our swaps, and she did tell me that this is one good brush. I washed it immediately, but hesitated using it for quite sometime. Until one day, that i need a brush to buff my powder ...

my weekend loot...

Image
thanks to mom who attended their annual fitness convention, i spent the entire weekend in a hotel room, left with nothing to do but sleep, eat, watch tv and soak in a bubble bath. i was kidding mom that i am loving that kind of life...so when it was time to check out, i was like "but i'll be missing my room!" we had snacks at the mall and then mom decided to take a look inside Beauty Bar. i had no stuff to buy in mind but when i saw this brush, i asked mom to get it for me. Smashbox Bent Eyeliner i remember Smashbox to be the first brand of imported cosmetics that i got addicted to...and then i switched to MAC. the best part of this purchase is this: good deal, huh!? i browsed the net for some information on my new brush but i wasn't able to find any. the bent eyeliner at their website is this one: Apply liner like a pro with our best-selling precision brush. The same brush head as our popular EYE LINER BRUSH #8 with an ergonomic bend to conform to the shape of the ey...

Product Review: MAC 182 buffer brush

Image
A full, dome-shaped brush of extra soft goat hair. Specially created to flawlessly blend powder onto the skin for an immaculate polished finish. Excellent for all M·A·C powders and pigments.* *www.maccosmetics.com When i joined the number of people getting crazy over mineral foundations, i got so gaga over kabuki brushes. My first one was from Smashbox, which isn't a kabuki brush really...but it did the job. when i got my BE starter kit, i so loved the kabuki brush that went with it. sadly, after a few months, it started to shed like crazy and became scratchy. Then i saw this MAC 182 buffer brush. It was love at first sight, but the cost made me step back. It costs Php2500 here in Phils and heck, it's too much. (but i got myself MAC 187 which costs more..lol) so this brush went to my wishlist, and it did stay there for a long time. hehehhe and X came to the rescue...lol. what i love: the soft, densely packed hairs. it's really great on giving you that flawless look when us...

Product Review: Ellana Extra Large Buffer Brush

Image
"This brush is larger than your average buffer brush. It is a full, dome-shaped brush for applying and distributing powder on the face for a polished, flawless finish. It is similar to a full size kabuki brush with a longer handle for better control." i fell inlove with this brush the first time i saw it at Shen's blog (she's an Ellana reseller). I immediately texted her, asking to reserve one for me. She told me that it will be available soon, and promised me that i'm assured of getting one. yey! a month after, i got a package from Shen and as promised...i got the brush, as a GIFT! whoa, sweet! i've been using it ever since. and now that i am back with MMU foundation for everyday use, this brush is my HG brush for the application. what i love: uber soft...it doesn't scratch at all! no bleeding no shedding size is just right (some says it's too big, but it gives me more control IMHO) it's available locally also great for blending your blush c...

magazines and gifts from Shen...

Image
i know i have piles of magazines already, there are even some that i haven't read yet...but i just can't stop myself from buying new issues of some of the magazines i love to read: i even got this Pantene 3-minute miracle treatment for free from one of the magazines (i think from Cosmo?). so finally, i'd be able to try it. then, my sweet friend Shen gave me these: weeee..i've been waiting to get my hands on this lovely brush. i placed an order a month ago, and Shen gave it together with the lipgloss as gifts. thanks thanks Shen! so sooooft!

lovely gifts from my ate...

Image
when i started blogging almost a year ago, i didn't imagine that i'd be able to meet people and gain friends. i didn't even expect that people would read my blog! but when i was finally able to read some comments from readers, i realized that i am not actually talking to myself when i write my posts. LOL i've met some fellow beauty bloggers in person already, and i am still looking forward to meeting more (meet up soon, darlings?). but i am proud and of course, happy to have established friendship with some of those i haven't even met. one of them is my Ate Gracie , whom i also call Posh and Nikki calls Samantha (viva, SATC girls...LOL!) We have a common friend, Nimfa, but i never imagined that i'll get to talk to her one day. She sent me a message thru friendster asking about makeup...and from then on, we never stopped talking about it. But the thing is, we also talk about our careers, love and everything about life. We've shared secrets, laughed abou...

Product Review: Fanny Serrano angled blush brush

Image
during our makeup class, i discovered how great angled blush brushes are in applying blushes or in contouring the cheeks. that time, i only have my short handled angled blush brush from MAC (part of a set) and that from my SUESH 21 brush set. I just knew i had to get another one. And that's when i saw one of our classmates, Martin, using one from Fanny Serrano. It looks great, so i just couldn't wait...i went to the mall and got one for myself :) the hairs are so soft when i touched them...the handle which is black in color looks sophisticated...and the price, Php750 is easy on the pocket (well, as compared to that of MAC's if i am going to get the long handled one.) so i purchased it, and upon arriving at home, washed it and waited for it to dry. and here are the pictures of my brush after washing it (i forgot to take pics before washing): (the brushes are numbered too like MAC) i am not sure if you can see it clear or close enough...but the hairs just went wacko :( they ...

my new brush set....

Image
another requirement of our makeup class is a set of brushes, long-handled brushes, that is. our teacher said that it's more professional to use long handled ones since the short-handled brushes are more for personal use. i agree with her... :) nica helped me acquire the 21-pc set of SUESH . the 28-pc set is out-of-stock. i need this set for my class (and maybe for personal use too! hehehe) and i guess it wouldn't hurt to just have the 21-pc set to start with since i have a couple of brushes which i can also use in class. early morning of Friday, i got the brushes and i was so excited that i ripped the air21 plastic to see my new baby: i was hardly breathing when i got this because of too much excitement to see what's inside, but i decided to take a pic of it first weee...i think my heart stopped beating at the sight of this babies OMG...OMG! I just love brushes! I'll post a review soon...but as a teaser, let me just tell you that they are so soft...and won't sc...

my makeup brushes...

Image
a year or maybe more than a year ago, i remember just having one makeup brush. yep, just one...and that would be a blush brush i bought from one of our trusty department stores here in PI (Landmark). I just can't remember the exact brand name, but for sure it's not from a known brand...but back then, i don't really care if it's a good brush or what...as long as it does the job for me, it's good enough for me. i don't really wear eye makeup back then as well, and if i do, i make use of the sponge applicators that go with the kit...or just use my fingers to apply, and blend (as if i already know what this term means...lol). 2006 was the year when i started getting addicted to makeup...be it MMU or non-MMU. It was also the time when i started collecting brushes, mostly face brushes for foundation and blushes...if memory serves me right, i think i have like 3-4 brushes at that time. now, when i look at my makeup brushes, i can't help but grin because my collecti...
