Product Review: Queen Helene Oatmeal & Honey Scrub

Oatmeal 'n Honey natural facial scrub
A deep cleansing natural-fiber facial scrub with beneficial oatmeal and soothing honey. The extra gentle exfoliating action of oatmeal draws out impurities, unclogs pores and removes dry, dead cells from the surface of your skin. Pure, wholesome honey helps replenish lost moisture and protects your skin from the harsh elements. The result is skin that looks fresh and healthy and feels soft and smooth. Can be used on all skin types.
Apply daily, or as often as desired. Ideal for use in the shower, too! Gently helps remove the dull surface layers of your skin, to reveal your naturally smooth, healthy complexion.

During one of my trips at Rustan's Supermarket, i chanced upon this item...and i was like, "hmmm...do they have the famous Mint Julep mask around here too?" and there was none. bugger. but being a sucker for anything that would exfoliate, i decided to get this anyways.

For years, i've been using the St. Ives Apricot Scrub (the whitening variant), and it's been working fine for me. I use it on my face, neck, elbows, knees and sometimes on my feet...anywhere with rough areas. I'm sure that most of you would agree with me that even though you already have found your HG on anything, sometimes you'd be tempted to try something else just because everybody else are talking about it...or just because the packaging looks appealing. :)

and yeah, i ditched my former exfoliator for this one. unlike the apricot scrub, this one comes with a beige-y colored paste with little brown grains (the other one comes in white?). The scent is like oatmeal...yeah, reminds me of that Quaker Oats that mom used to force me to eat so i'd lose weight. (lol) i can't seem to smell any honey in it..but maybe i'm just too retard. the grains are small and scrubby, but not painful even when used on the face. But remember, not to scrub too hard! It can also be rinsed off easily.

I use this on my face 2-3x week (but i make sure i don't have any pimples since my derma told me scrubs tend to aggravate them) or whenever i feel that my face needs a bit more cleaning than the usual. I've been wearing mineral foundation lately and other full-coverage foundation so i really need something to take those off my face. The scrub leaves me with a feeling of very well cleansed, soft and glowing skin. No irritations, so far!

A tube would last you months. I got mine some 2-3 months ago and i haven't used half or maybe a quarter of it yet! It's also cheap (sorry, forgot how much i got it for....stupid me!). But i am guessing this is cheaper than St. Ives'.
I am definitely loving this...and yeah, there's no way i'm going back to my old scrub. Unless i see another that's more appealing.
LOL!

But i wish it comes with a flip-top cap, though.
tata!

my "Back 2 MAC" eotd...

it's been a while since i last played with my MAC eyeshadows. I've missed using my mineral eyeshadows and been busy testing my NYX loot. when i went home last weekend for my mom's bday, i figured that it would be easier for me to bring my MAC palette instead of my sample baggies or my NYX stuffs.

my mom's bday was a blast (pics to come), and though we had much fun that day and slept late...we had to wake up early the next day since we would be going to Manaoag to hear mass and have dinner at Subic. They have been bragging bout this nice resto they found weeks ago (called Lighthouse) and they wanted me to be with them next time they visit. Mom knows i'm a sucker for food and that i would really enjoy, so they planned for some sort of a family get-away right after her birthday.

anyways, here's my looks for that day:

loots...

so after weeks of not buying anything, i decided to drop by the mall to get my mom a gift who's going to celebrate her birthday on friday. i dropped by MAC and good thing, they don't have stocks of charged water and their 15 e/s palette...so i ended up not getting anything! yay! i'm such a good girl, no!? :)

after getting my mom's gift (nah, you won't know what i got for you mom...and you thought i'm gonna post it here huh? hehhee) i went to Landmark to get a few things:

cushioned rollers for my aunt, lotion, body wash, wet wipes, a couple of falsies and eye cream from garnier (here i go again...and just a few days ago i told myself i'm gonna stick with strivectin, tsk tsk...and yeah, some plastic trays)

i dropped by Shiseido to get these:

powder foundation (for mom) and mascara base

some freebies:

yes mom...that's all you gonna get.

kiddin'

:)

testing my NYX chrome eyeshadows....

as much as i love pressed eyeshadows, my heart still longs for loose pigments! i've started wearing eyeshadows when i got introduced to loose mineral eyeshadows. and i can say that until now, i would prefer using them than my pressed ones.

i would love to own MAC pigments, but the price has been stopping me to get them. i have their set of antiquitease pigments but that's about it. i have lots of mineral e/s but of course, i'd love to try out other brands. good thing, there's a good alternative...NYX chrome eyeshadows! :)

they are like mineral pigments where you would need to have a sticky base so they won't fall off. also, it's recommended to apply them in a patting motion instead of swiping. honestly, i had a hard time applying and blending because the glitters keep on falling off. and i swear i am patting them on! LOL

anyway, here's my attempt:

i know...i know...i sucked! can you give me another chance to make things right? :)

and me, working hard...

hello, X!?

on healthy snacking...

people who really know me can attest to the fact that i eat a lot. it would be soooo seldom that you wouldn't see me munching...even at work. good thing, i've found an alternative to chips and french fries:

great idea from DOLE, i must say. they also have bananas...which i try not to eat at night since it makes you sleepy (where on earth did i read that!?) and corn (which i haven't been able to eat for years now since i started wearing braces). I've been snacking on this for days now, most especially when i'm on a sugar kick.

nice, no!?

thanks nimfa...

my dear friend nimfa visited me last weekend. it's been a while since we last saw each other. this girl travels a lot...it's funny that sometimes we get into an argument because we would throw jokes at each other on how we spend our money on our "vices." then we came to a compromise and an understanding that each of us have their own way of spending their money to be happy. some spend on bags, shoes, clothes...while others spend on travel and well, makeup. lol
she brought me some goodies:

brush roll from Bodyshop, Lancome lipgloss palette and chocolates...yumm!

purrttttyyyy!

and in return, i gave her a makeover.

(though i honestly think she doesnt need one. sorry for the quality of the pics, my camera wasn't cooperating)

so there's my dear nimfa. a good friend though we don't really see each other and talk that much. but i know i can always count on her no matter what.

'twas nice seeing you again nimfa-nimfatooot! (that's how i call her..hehhee)

see you soon (hugs)
