my wish has been granted!

everybody has been asking me what X gave me on my birthday. honestly, i didn't intend to ask him anything since he'd been so generous with my wishes since last year. he got me a video cam, bluetooth headset and speakers for my car and a camera.

days before my birthday, he told me he wanted to give me something i can use for my makeup gigs...an airbrush equipment. i wasn't too excited since i haven't been accepting gigs due to my busy work sched. he might have noticed my lack of interest so he asked me what i would really want to get.

X: tell me, what do you want me to give you on your birthday?
Me: hmmm, a new phone?
X: you mean, an iPhone?
Me: (hesitates) umm, yeah?
X: for someone who gets bored and changes her cellphone every 3months, it's not practical.
Me: Okay.

so with a heavy heart (LOL!), i accepted the fact that i won't be getting an iPhone.

so imagine my surprise when he called me past midnight (they are 4hrs behind) to ask me what color I want: white or black!

i was kinda sheepish at first since I know it would burn a hole in X's pocket but he was just too insistent to get me what i really want, hahahah!

so here it is:

i immediately bought some case protectors because this phone's not just gonna stay with me for 3 months...LOL!

i am one spoiled brat!

thanks, Mahal!

Product Review: The Face Shop Extreme Brush Pen Eyeliner

Extreme Brush Pen Eyeliner
(01 Black Force)
  • Easy to control fine point brush lets you draw an even, flawlessly clean line without tugging, skipping or scratching. Delivers the most intense color to define your eyes
  • No more tears formula with glucose mimics natural tears to minimize irritation
  • Smudge-free formula does not leave pigment residue after cleansing. Washes easily with tepid water
what i love:
super (duper) easy to use...the easiest liner pen I've used so far!
liquid doesn't dry up easily in the pen. i've had other pen liners that dried up in a matter of weeks. this one doesn't! i've been using mine for almost a month and it still feels brand new.
no tugging
washes off easily
what i love the most is how i can use its tip to correct any mistakes when i am using my other liners...or when i'm using a pencil liner and some of it sticks to my curler, i then use this to cover up those areas where my liner got removed

what i hate:
not waterproof. well, it doesn't say it is...but since I work out in the gym, i need something that would really last.
color is not that intense, unlike other liners i've tried. if you want a bolder color, just layer until you reach your desired intensity
smudges a bit, but doesn't give you raccoon eyes

EOTD using TFS Pen Liner

see how precise the line is? it's not (just) because I've been applying a liner for years now but this pen liner makes it really easy. promise!
=)

this actually reminds me of MAC's Penultimate, but cheaper! But I still have to check on the price since I got this as a present.

will i buy?
definitely yes!

turned another year older...

every year, i would dread my birthday. if given a choice, i'd sleep on it and just wake up the day after. hmm, and i must confess, i'd feel a bit depressed whenever my birthday is just around the corner. i guess i hate getting old, huh!

what greeted me when i came in the office (after an hour and a half being late, hehehe):

at that point, i told myself...getting old isn't bad!

people greeted me as soon as i came in the office...and my phone's beeping non-stop, even getting calls abroad just to greet me. at that point, i want to give myself a hard poke in the head for hating this day...the day when people would treat me extra special =)

gifts i got:

left: from my ever thoughtful mother-in-law..she even threw in a box of yummy chocolates!
right: from Mina, my officemate's wife who i met during our recent trip

a mango top and banoffee pie from Lui. there's also my favorite peanut butter sandwich from Weng

a cake and a drawing of me. my colleagues say i look like Emily Strange when i cut my bangs months ago. good thing i am trying to grow it back now. LOL!

i took my officemates out for lunch. and guess what, my mom and sister made it! i actually asked them to come over for my birthday since I won't be able to go home to spend it with them. honestly, i still prefer spending occasions like this with my loving family instead of going out on a gimmick and getting drunk..lol!

my family checked in at a nearby hotel and this what greeted me when i came right after office:

what's inside:

yeah, i turned 31 last May 5. but i don't feel like anything have changed about me. I am still the same old, goofy me:

and i guess, i won't be changing from being like that anytime soon!

thanks my dear readers for staying with me. i know i haven't been blogging for quite a while now but whenever i visit my site, i'd see people online and leaving me messages. i hope you'd still bear with me for the next coming weeks as i get busier in the office. but i will try to update as often as i can.

i hope you won't get tired of me...and thanks for all those who greeted me on my birthday!

Lemming: Eyliplex - 2

my search for an eyecream that would give me impressive (and dramatic) results continues. i know i have blogged about my HG eyecream some time ago, but like most women, there are some things i just can't get enough of.

on one of my recent visits to (ever reliable) Watsons, i came across this:

it comes from the same company which brought us Triaktiline. at first, i was wondering why come up with a new one if the previous works wonders as what they claim? mom bought herself a tube of Triaktiline and wanted to ask her how is it working for her. but knowing her, she gets confused as to what product actually works since she's using TONS of skin care products. so yeah, she's not the best person to ask. LOL!

i must admit, i am so curious about this product. having a 4-hr sleep at the most is taking its toll on me, most especially on my already tired (and baggy) eyes. i am in a bad need of a good eye cream.

priced at Php2600, this ain't cheap. if you have this, or knows about this...please let me know. please help me save my hard-earned moolah, or at least assure me that this is worth the price.

tata!

Product Review: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Complete UV Waterlight Lotion

I hate the sun. If possible, I'd stay indoors all day...probably all my life, just to stay away from the sunspots and freckles that most of us would dread to have.

But of course, that isn't possible. I have to go to work everyday and no matter how hard i try, there will always be an excuse for me to go out during weekends. And since it's summer, there are lots of invites to outings that I just can't say NO to. Besides, I can't hide from the sun all the time...can I?

I can't remember when I first started using sunblocks for my body. With a vain mom like mine, I probably started early..hahaha. Back then, I'd apply the same sunblock on my face and body...not minding how sticky it is and how oily my face would look after some time. But when I started putting on makeup, I just know I had to get something that's made specifically for the face.

We need something that is lightweight, not sticky and if it's not too much to ask, something that won't mess up with our makeup after a few hours. And of course, one that would protect us from the harmful UVA/UVB rays of the sun. Light on the face, but would work as hard as the sunblock we use on our body.

Superior ultra-lightweight protection lotion against UV and environmental aggressors for healthy, beautifully radiant skin. With breakthrough Helioplex that works like an invisible shield for skin by effectively blocking out harmful UVA/UVB rays and helping neutralize free radical damage. Skin is provided with superior protection against darkening and signs of premature aging. Fluid texture to give you fresh, ultra light feel. Combined with Dry Touch Technology for a non-oily and non-sticky texture, you can spread it on smoothly to a clean and non-shiny finish.

Dermatologist tested, PABA-free, oil-free, does not clog pores.

Use at the end of your skincare routine after moisturizer as a superior daily blocker. Suitable for use as a makeup base

swatched

rubbed

blended in

likes:
light on the face
non-sticky and can be applied smoothly
a little goes a long way (but remember that you need a half teaspoon for the face if you'll be out in the sun for a LONG time)
high SPF
leaves a non-shiny and velvety finish. Once blended in, you'll forget you have sunblock on!
gives skin a healthy glow
no allergic reactions
if you have dry skin, this is a good makeup base as it gives enough moisture
doesn't leave a whitish cast
dries fast
reasonably priced, Php460.00

(scary, eh?)

dislikes:
if you have a very oily skin (ehem), this won't help in making your foundation stay put.
it has some sort of sunscreen-y scent, that some might not like. but rest assured it goes away after a few minutes

TIPS:
Don't use on eye area. I haven't tried it, but I've read that some experienced some stinging and burning feeling after accidentally applying this on their eye areas.

You don't need too much if you're not staying too long under the sun, a pea-sized amount is enough.

Massage on your face and blend it very well before applying makeup.

Overall, I like this sunblock but not totally inlove just because i have uber oily skin and this doesn't help in making my makeup stay put. Well, not unless I put a layer of my face primer. :) But on days that I don't need to put on makeup or if I don't need to look made up for a long time, this is enough. With the healthy glow it gives me, all i need is some lipbalm and I am ready to go.

(don't forget my eyebrows, LOL!)
