Play time with Caruso Professional Hot Rollers...

After months since I got this as a gift, I finally had the time to play with my Caruso Professional Hot Rollers:
Having straight hair since birth, I've always wanted to get those bouncy and luscious curls. I know some of you would hate me for saying that, because those with wavy, curly hair would want what I have right now. But it's just that I want to look different from what I used to...is that too much too ask? So don't hate me, okie?
^_^

I went home earlier last night so while preparing my dinner, I played with my hair using my Caruso hot rollers:

ewww, oily face...

as you can see, I don't really know how to use it properly. with the way I used the curlers, how on earth will I come up with the right curls!?
(don't hate me Sophie, sniff sniff!)

the result:

it does look okay, but the curls don't fit me. i need those loose, big curls...the type that won't make my face look bigger than it already is!

i didn't use any setting lotions or hairspray...and I let it stay for only 10mins. the curls lasted for more than an hour, i think. not bad, huh!? i'll definitely try my luck on it again...

Product Review: Dove Foaming Makeup Remover

Oh yeah, another makeup remover review here. I do wear makeup almost everyday, so these babies won't be put to waste anyway.

I'm a Dove user, I love their soaps and their facial washes. I just didn't know they have a makeup remover too until I was introduced to it (with other bloggers) during the most recent Watsons Beauty Lab.

Dove Foaming Makeup Remover
Transforms from liquid into an ultra fine foam, to effectively remove makeup.
Works by effectively removing even the heaviest makeup including waterproof mascara, eye makeup and foundation

How to use:

Step 1:
Simply squeeze three pumps of Foaming Make Up Remover into your hand and apply to your face (wet or dry) to remove even the heaviest make up.

Step 2: Wash with a gentle moisturising face cleanser, such as Dove Beauty Moisture Facial Cleanser, to remove traces of dirt and restore your skin’s moisture balance.

Step 3: Moisturise after washing, with Dove Protective Moisturising Lotion, to help prevent future dryness and allow your skin to regenerate and recover while you rest.

(credits to Dove site)

From its packaging, one would think it's a cleansing oil (like Shu Uemura's) with a pump. but it's actually not! 2-3 pumps is all you need to get a soft, rich glob of foam like this:

what i like:
makeup melts easily, except for my waterproof eyeliner and mascara
soft foam makes cleaning your face a lot more enjoyable. it feels like playing with icing on your face
the mild scent
no greasy feel after using it
no allergic reactions
the packaging. it even comes with a pump stopper making it travel-friendly
reasonably priced at Php350 for a 155ml bottle which would probably last for 3 months or more.

after using Dove

what i don't like:
as you can see, it wasn't able to remove some of my waterproof mascara and the eyeliner on my waterlines.
it stings my eyes and it hurts like crazy
it may be quite drying to those who have normal-dry skins. it left me with a tight feeling on my face, which immediately went away since I have uber-oily skin

will I buy again? Maybe not. I'm using a lot of waterproof makeup and this won't really help me. also, i hate stuff that stings my eyes. I can stand blurring of my eyes for a bit, though...only that.

have you tried this?

if yes, did you like it or hate it? if not, will you be giving this a try?
let me hear yah!

EOTD/FOTD: Revisiting mineral foundations + UD Naked Palette

I can't remember when was the last time I used mineral foundations. I had a bit of prep time earlier, so I decided to reach for my mineral foundations and do the the swirling and tapping and of course, buffing all over again.

Moisturized with Clinique's Repairwear Laser Focus and primed with Majolica Majorca's Lingerie Pore Cover

EYES:
TonyMoly retractable eyebrow liner
NYX HD eyeshadow base
UD e/s in Virgin, Sin, Hustle and Creep (Naked palette)
Covergirl Liquiline Blast in Black
Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara
Prestige eyeliner in white
Revlon Age Defying concealer in 002
MAC browset in Girl Boy

FACE:
Graftobian concealer
Monave foundation in Caroline
Lauress foundation in Radiant ivory
MAC blush in Dainty
MAC Sculpt and Shape

LIPS:
Vaseline Lip Therapy
MAC l/s in Marquise D' (Wonder Woman)

Coverage and lasting power is still great...i love how the MMU foundation covered the redness and blemishes on my face. Monave is the bomb, it can be used alone actually, but I prefer using the Lauress foundie because it's nice in photos.
Do you agree? (pls, do! LOL)

I would have to wake up at least half an hour earlier than usual if I want to use my MMU...i wish Monave would come up with liquid foundations, or do they already have?

Product Review: Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover

Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover
Totally tugless, two-way makeup remover speeds the departure of hard-to-remove eye and lip makeup. Dissolves and "lifts away" long-wearing makeup, even waterproof mascara. Non-irritating, non-stinging.
Ophthalmologist Tested. Appropriate for contact lens wearers.

Directions for Use:
Shake well before using
Saturate cotton ball with remover
Cleanse one eye area at a time. Apply to eye area and hold for several seconds, then wipe with downward strokes.
Use a new saturated cotton ball or tissue for lipstick removal.
Rinse with cool water.

I got this as a GWP during Shen's Clinique Party and I've been using it often if I'm using waterproof makeup...which I almost always do. I still love my cleansing oils but there are days when I have a lot of more time to cleanse my face. And when I do, I first remove my eye and lip makeup, then my face before finally washing my face.

(excuse the oilies)
waterproof mascara and eye liner

after cleansing with Clinique Take the Day Off:

TADAH!
funny that my curl is still there...but no more traces of eye makeup.

what I love:
waterproof eye makeup gets easily removed, absolutely no tugging!
no scent
no irritations
no blurring of the eyes
moisturizing. leaves a bit of greasy residue but it can easily be removed

what i hate:
not really hate though, but I wish it comes with a pump.

So far, this is the best eye makeup remover for me. I will surely be getting a full-size bottle once I finish my GWP. I haven't tried using this on my lips though, as my lipstick don't get to stay until the time I have to remove my makeup. I also have no idea how much this costs, I'll update this post once I get the figures.

how about you, what's your HG makeup remover?

EOTD: Peachy Pinks from UD 15th Anniversary palette

Lately, I've been playing with my new eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay a lot more often. I really find the palette amazing with great, wearable colors. This palette is undeniably, my favorite eyeshadow palette as of the moment.

Here's another wearable peachy-pink EOTD that I wore in the office:

EYES:
TonyMoly retractable eyebrow liner

NYX HD eyeshadow base
UD e/s in Flow, Tainted and M.I.A
Covergirl Liquiline Blast in Black
Maybelline Stiletto mascara
Prestige eyeliner in White

FACE:
Smashbox Photofinish primer
Cinemasecrets concealer
Clinique DermaWhite-C liquid foundation
Clinique DermaWhite-C powder foundation
TonyMoly lip tint (used on the cheeks)
MAC Sculpt and Shape

(sorry, forgot what I used on my lips!)

til next EOTD/FOTD!

Clinique Derma White Bright-C Makeup

Remember when I mentioned on a previous blog post that I haven't tried Clinique's makeup? I finally bought some and I can say, this is a start of another brand addiction!
^_^

Clinique Derma White Bright-C Liquid Makeup with SPF 38
A long-wearing, oil-free brightening foundation, with a sweat and humidity-resistant formula that regulate oil and shine, contains a high level of SPF/PA+++ to shield against environmental assaults and future darkening, enriched with Vitamin E, P and derivatives of Vitamin C for a healthy look, provides a natural, buildable coverage while concealing skin imperfections, delivers a refreshing cooling sensation upon application and gives a naturally perfect, even-tone finish
great for all skintypes

packaging is cute, travel-friendly and it actually makes you think it's not makeup...more like a moisturizer. Clinique makeup is exactly like that, they have makeup that cares for the skin.

Clinique Derma White Bright-C Powder Makeup with SPF29
Ultra light, velvety smooth powder foundation, easily glides on to give a natural finish, highly protects skin from the damage of UV rays, covers imperfection and evens out skin tone, renders you a flawless, luminous complexion

great for all skin types

I only got their refill...I was hoping that I could re-use my other compacts, but apparently their refills are wider. So yeah, there goes my attempt to save some moolah. Their powder finely milled, reminds me of those Japanese powder brands.

Priced at Php1950 each, I bet these will last me months. The liquid foundation is really liquid-y but the coverage is awesome and a little goes a long way. As for the powder, I only use it to set the liquid foundation so I'm sure I won't be using too much of it.

I'll post reviews soon and of course, FOTDs.
Til next time!

Love Shoes?

do you love casual, fabulous pairs like this?

or girly and gorgeous pairs like this?

if your reply is a resounding YES, check out Denise Katipunera's online shoe shop, Shoe Etiquette.

Denise is one of the first fashion bloggers that I followed. I love how she turns her ukay finds to great ensembles. I also love that we hail from the same province.
^_^

She's now a proud mommy to an uber cute kiddo, and just looking at their family pictures make me green with envy. Her glow is a proof that she's living one very happy life. Why can't we all have that?

Anyways, do check her online shop, I love all the shoes in there, too bad, most of those in my size are already sold out. Geesh, why was I born with tiny feet!? Even my sister has gorgeous pairs, but she's a size 9, and i'm a 5.

Php400.00, 100g

I've been wanting to try this one, but I just had a facial treatment done so I had to keep myself from being experimenting for now. But the idea of using a foaming net to create the bubbles for washing your face is something new...and intriguing, as well. They call this beautiFoam effect. The washing of face with foam is not new, but to create the foam using a foaming net is!

They have also revamped their Whitening Underarm and Inner Thigh cream:

Mosbeau Placenta Whitening Underarm and Inner Thigh Cream
From the multi-awarded product comes a new and innovative formula that will be the standard in whitening, Mosbeau Placenta White Underarm & Inner Thigh Cream is infused with more whitening and moisturizing ingredients for that long-lasting evenly fair skin.

Innovative Cream

With Angel scent and improved texture that can be easily absorbed by the skin.

Directions:
Apply an ample amount of cream onto the desired area. Do not apply on broken or irritated skin.

Price:
Php980.00, 50g

I've used this cream (old formulation and packaging) in the past:

I use it on my underarms and it did help in lightening (stupid and reckless shaver here), and I stopped shaving too (thanks to UA laser). I haven't used it on my inner thighs though, I don't think I need help in that yet..LOL! The only thing that I didn't like with the previous formulation is the scent...this new one has a new scent, woot!

new and old packaging

I am yet to try their All-in-One set...have you tried it already? Yes, I'm such a sucker for anything whitening...
^_^

Mosbeau Placenta products are being sold at Watsons and other leading drugstores, boutiques and salons nationwide.

(all product info taken from their website)

Thanks, Mosbeau PH!

Shensaddiction's Clinique Party...

Last weekend, I finally got the chance to attend Shen's Clinique Party. As usual, I was running late and this is the scene I ran into:

all these ladies are having a good time...there's a makeover, product consultation and of course, picture taking!

It was my first time to attend a Clinique party and I was just so happy that it was with a good friend, Shen and of course, her readers!

Shen is absolutely glowing...who wouldn't if you've just celebrated your anniversary with you fiance.
^_^

The last time I've been at a Clinique counter was years ago, so I went around checking out what they have to offer:

I didn't know they have a men's line. I wish my man is as vain as me. It would be great to buy him stuff like this and make him use it. Imagine me saying "use this...then this...and next is this one..."
LOL!

their skintype analysis, using this would help you know what regimen would work for you

more of their 3-step skincare systems

I've used this before and I love it!
hmmm, makes me want to get it again. I heard they don't offer the cream-variant anymore. I remember using that and this concentrate.

and of course, their makeup section:

honestly, I haven't tried any of their makeup yet...but it isn't too late to start, yes!?

their Dermawhite line

Superbalanced Powder Makeup

This one I really want to get next time. I saw a review from Liz and it definitely made me want it more!

one of my favorite perfumes, though I prefer the Men's
^_^

delicious pica-pica from BIZU

Overall, the event has been fun. I've met new people and made friends. It's always fun sharing beauty tips, and talking about anything. I am so proud to be one of Shen's guests that day. Besides, I am one fan too.

group shot with Mira of Clinique

thanks to the wonderful ladies at the Clinique counter, and of course, to MIRA for this unforgettable experience.
