Our (Late) Lunch Experience at Lugang Cafe

Image
I've been seeing Lugang Cafe for quite some time when I was still based in PH but never really gotten the chance to try it.  I admit I am not a big fan of Chinese cuisine except when my occasional craving for authentic dimsums strikes, and so thinking that Lugang Cafe is just like any other Chinese restaurant, I don't really pay attention to it whenever I go looking for some place to eat.  Last Monday, after mine and my Mama Wheng's follow-up checkups with our respective doctors, my family and I went to SM The Block to look for a place to have our (late) lunch. It was already past 2 that time and this restaurant was the first that I saw upon entering the mall. My tummy's already growling so I took it as a sign that I don't have much time left before I would start nibbling on somebody.  Hahaha!  Seriously, I wasn't really expecting a lot when we entered the restaurant. I just knew I need to eat, stat! And boy, I'm glad we did give this place a chance to ...

Baguio Eats: Ketchup Community

Image
It's the weekend once again and I've been missing my family so much these past few weeks.  I look forward to spending time with them again soon. If things turn out well, I'd be seeing them again sometime in July. And I just can't wait.  Looking back, I feel bad for those times I opted to stay in Manila during the weekends instead of heading back home in Bataan to be with them.  I wish I didn't let weariness (from work) get the best of me during those times. So my advise for you my friends, spend time with your family whenever you can and whenever you have the chance.  Okay, enough with the mala-telenovela drama.  For today let me share with you our dining experience at Ketchup Food Community during our short stay in Baguio early this year.  If you want to enjoy a variety of cuisines in one spot, the Ketchup Food Community near Wright Park is the best place to go. It is a small gated, small community with 5 restaurants ...

Why I will never eat again at Mugg and Bean...

Image
A few weeks ago, after having my hair done at Hairworks  Abu Dhabi, me and my officemate decided to grab ourselves a late dinner.    We saw Mugg and Bean on the same floor where Hairworks is and after telling me how good their food is I can't actually wait for my salon session to be over. LoL! After the salon, we went directly to Mugg and Bean.  We asked the server what time they close and she said 10pm. It was around 9:40pm that time and so I asked her if it's okay. She said "Yes" so we got ourselves seated and checked their menu.   I find their plates a bit small for a restaurant which serves comfort food but what the heck, I don't mind really as long as the food is really good.  I can always refill my plate anyways, right!? ^_^

Smiling BKK: (Quirky) Thai in Dubai...

Image
I've always loved Thai food.  Well, at least I've started loving it some few years back when me and my family stumbled upon Jatujak during one of our shopping days at SM MOA in the Philippines.  Mom loved their Pomelo salad so much that we eat there for at least 2-3x a month.  Not too often you say?  Well, my family lives in the province while I stay at the northern part of Manila and we travel all the way to SM MOA for Jatujak…and of course, some shopping.  Hahaha. A few nights after I arrived here in Dubai, my husband asked me where I would want to go for dinner.  I should've said any Arabic restaurant, but knowing that my husband isn't as adventurous as I am with food, I just asked him to treat me to a nice Thai restaurant instead.  Besides, I am beginning to miss Thai food. I actually consider it my comfort food. It's one cuisine I go to at times when I feel like eating more rice than the usual. Hahaha!  The husband immediately kne...

US Travel: BCD Tofu House...

Image
Back in the US, we were able to dine in a number of restaurants but I usually don't bring my camera with me unless we are going on a trip.  Most of the food photos I have are taken by my Iphone and some of them aren't really clear so there's only a few I could share with you.   For today, let me share with you our late lunch with probably one of the famous Korean Restaurant in the US...the BCD Tofu House. It was my second day in the US and since we are somewhere around New Jersey, Kuya Cyril decided to bring us to this place.  He said it's one of his favorite go-to places when he wants to eat good Korean food. Whatever you order, you always get a bunch of Banchan: Macaroni Salad I'm sorry but I don't know what this is.. ^_^ Pickles Kimchi I've never had Kimchi before, as I was scared how it would taste like.  But since I'm on a travel and perhaps, a bit more ready to explore, I decided to give this a...

Family dinner at Kitsho Japanese Restaurant and Sake Bar...

Image
If you're following me on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, you might have seen my posts about our family's stay-cation last weekend.  My mom's based in the province while me and my sister are living  (separately) here in Manila.  Me and my sis don't get to go home that often, so Mom tries to make sure that we still get to spend some time together by coming over here in Manila. Usually, we meet for lunch then some shopping (if budget permits, LOL) and then dinner, before she goes home.  If mom misses us too much (laughs), we'd spend the entire weekend in a hotel for a whole lot of eating, goofing around and more eating! Last weekend, we stayed at one of our fave hotels here in Manila, the Traders Hotel.  We just so love it there because we feel so much at home.  The staff, from the guards, to the people at the reception, up to the waiters and even the managers are so polite and accommodating.  It's as if we're just in our own home back in the provin...
