Product Review: MUFE High Definition Liquid Foundation

I know i'm sort of late in doing a review for this product...but hey, it's better late than never, right!? :)

the first time i started reading about MUFE's HD makeup line, i can't stop myself from wishing that i get to have my grubby hands on them. i remember seeing the loose powder and the foundation from MUFE Shangrila, but i ended up getting only the loose powder because i have MAC SFF back then (was still starting with makeup school). i can still remember (almost) harassing the SAs there because they told me that they don't have the price for it yet since the product has just arrived. after a series of calls, they finally let me buy the powder. and yeah, i was STUPID for not buying the foundation too!

when reviews started appearing on different blogsites, i just can't stop blaming myself for not getting one. i called MUFE and told me that like the HD powder, the foundation too has been OOS for months. ACCCCK!

but an angel might have heard me again...X's mother was coming over for their youngest son's wedding and asked me what i want from the US. and i guess you know what i asked for..heheeh

What it is:
An oil-free medium-to-full-coverage liquid foundation that covers skin imperfections flawlessly while remaining invisible on-screen and in real life.

What it does:
Creates a soft-focus effect, designed to meet the coverage concerns of those in the spotlight. It creates a complexion that looks flawless, even in bright or harsh lighting.

What else you need to know:
This Sephora-exclusive foundation comes in 25 different shades to suit all skintones.

Active Ingredients:
Relipidium: Moisturizes the skin (+46% after 4h).
Fucogel: Forms a microfilm that prevents dehydration and protects against external aggression.
Sericite: Enables rays of light to spread more widely, intensifying the radiance of the complexion.

Ingredients:
Aqua, Cyclopentasiloxane, Neopentyl Glycol Diethylhexanoate, Mica, talc, PEG-10 Dimenthicone, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Phenyl, Trimethicone, Sodium Chloride, Lauroyl Lysine, Dimenthicone Crosspolymer, Glyceryl Caprylate, Methylpropanediol, Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Sodium Myristoyl Glutamate, Cyclohexacyloxane, Methylisothiazolinone, Sorbitan Sesquileate, Silver Oxide, Propylene, Carbonate, Parfum (fragrance), Methylparaben, Fagus Sylvatica Extract (Fagus Sylvatica Bud Extract), Hydrolyzed Yeast Protein, [+/- CI 77891 )titanium Dioxide), CI 77491 (Iron Oxides), CI 77499 (Iron Oxides).

Suggested Usage:

Apply directly on skin. Small quantity is sufficient to make up the whole face.
Perfect and mattify application by dusting with HD powder.

shade 120 swatched

blended in...

what i love:

  • offers medium to heavy coverage. if i would really need a heavier coverage, i mix this with MAC SFF and the result is still great!
  • easily to apply. i apply this using my MAC 187 and it really gives that airbrushed look. i then set it with either the MUFE HD loose powder of with my MAC MSF Natural
  • it's matte. but for an oil slick like me, it just gives that gorgeous glow after a few hours.
  • no funky smell
  • the packaging. actually i like the packaging more than that of MAC SFF. And i love that it comes with a pump! no need to buy a separate pump... :)
  • a little amount goes a long way. so i'm thinking that this 30ml bottle would last me looooongg.
  • doesn't give a whitish cast on pictures...makes you "photogenic" and "video-genic" (is there such a word? lol)
  • feels light and looks like second skin...your-skin-but-better kind of foundation, imho!
  • no allergic reactions. though i've read some reviews that they get pimples after using this. well, i've read that about MAC too...but never experienced it. :)

what i hate:

  • kinda expensive (well, as compared to MAC). I bought mine in the US and it costs $40. but i must say that this is worth every cent!
  • doesn't really cover scars or pigmentations. i would mix this with MAC SFF to really have that "heavy" coverage i need and make sure that it still has that "HD" capabilities.
  • no spf. if it has one, then i would say that this is one hella of a foundation. but of course, if SPF is added then there would be that whitish cast on pics. i can apply sunblock before my primer anyways, so that's fine.

i know it kinda looks lighter on me...but after some time:

it gets darker on me. ugh!

good thing i have another bottle which is a shade lighter, yay!

will i buy this again?

nope. and that's just because i haven't even used a quarter of my bottle! and i don't really use liquid foundation for everyday use...but if ever this runs out, i am DEFINITELY BUYING more!

an extra "OMPH" on a regular day...

okay, since i am wearing almost the same shades of eyeshadows lately, i decided to give it a little more "omph."

so what's this "omph" i'm talking about?

FALSIES!

yep...i decided to wear falsies today. i am not really into falsies since my eyes tend to look sleepy whenever i wear them, most especially the full sized ones. good thing, i've found these "XLH" falsies from The Face Shop. I first saw them on Phoebe and it really looked natural. I then bought some, not for personal use, but for my clients. hehehhee..and when i saw how natural and fab their lashes became after the falsies, that's the time i decided to hoard them from the store. it's always OOS, good thing i got to purchase 3...and will buy more next time.

The XLH lashes from The Face Shop kinda looks like the MAC HK lashes (IMHO).

de-stressing and pampering time...

nope...i didn't go shopping!
how dare you think about that each time i'd mention de-stressing! i am definitely not like that...hmp!

LOL

nah...i know that's the first thing you'd have on your mind when i would say i wanna go relaxing. but for a change, i went to a facial care clinic last Saturday (Godiva Skin Care station) and had facial and diamond peel. it has been ages since i last had one. also, i tried their pain-free laser hair removal for my underams they call Harmony. Had the first session and i'd be back after 3 wks. it was definitel painless and only took 3o secs for each pit. I wanted to have my legs done too, but wth, it''s so expensivo! i'd probably just stick with the ole shaving way. hehehe..

it really feels good to have your face cleansed, no? and with their Vitamin C after facial, my face surely felt better. i promise that i'll undergo facial and diamond peel once a month!

today, after my gig...i went back to Godiva to have my first session of (guess what....) their IV gluta! yay! i've been taking gluta caps for months but then i stopped months ago and i feel like i need to go back. but i always forget to take them and besides, the pills i'm taking got expensive and so i thought that IV gluta would be a wiser choice, not to mention the effects would be a lot faster.

so there...i didn't go shopping but i surely did spend some moolah again. but at least, it'd be more for my skin care.

(took a picture of this light while waiting for my attendant to start her magic on moi...)

my-supposed-to-be Happy Friday look...

used:
AWG e/s in Innovative
MAC e/s in Nocturnelle
MAC Penultimate liner in Rapid Black
Shiseido Eye Lash primer (yeah, stupid me forgot to apply my mascara LOL)

love my lipcolor! RAWR!

nope, i didn't wear that to work...hehehe. I just played with my 66-lip color palette from Coastalscents and this blue intrigued me. I had to apply concealer first to neutralize my natural lip color so the blue would really show up.

hmmm, i'm getting bored to death so i might probably wear a lipcolor like this one of these days.
=)

Event: My Lancome at Fashion Walk (Greenbelt)

finally...after months of not seeing these girls, i was able to have fun with them again last March 25 2oo9 for the My Lancome event. when everything else is not doing fine and you're on the verge of a nervous breakdown (okay, i may be exaggerating LOL), what else can be better than being in the company of your girl friends. Jamie and I, came late but we were able to make in just in time for the fashion show. i love their makeup, and of course their dresses...and most especially the wedding dress!

too bad Nikki and Keith weren't able to join us for dinner at Ebun where Jamie, Shen and I enjoyed our group's fave Caldereta (i miss Sophie and Ebs). Jamie had to go to work after, but Shen and I stayed up late for some drinks at Chilis.

It was really fun being with these girls again. To Shen, thanks for boosting me up...and making me realize that i can go through all these. (hugs)

Til we meet again ladies!

thanks, LANCOME!

Product Review: Solvere Acne Clearing Toner

Ultra pure glycolic acid 2% coupled with the proven acne fighting ingredient salicylic acid 2%. Specially formulated to accelerate the removal of dead skin cells that can interfere with the proper oil drainage of the skin. Salicylic acid 2% helps to reduce the number of acne blemishes (papules & pustules) and blackheads (comedones) and allows the skin to heal.

Benefits:

A patented and simple to use toner pad that delivers the ultra pure, exfoliating benefits of glycolic acid in combination with the proven keratolytic, salicylic acid 2%.
Formulated with the astringent benefits of witch hazel in combination with green tea extract and zinc PCA to assist in soothing skin irritation and inflammation.

Active Ingredient:Salicylic Acid USP 2%.

Inactive Ingredients:Ammonium Hydroxide, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Disodium EDTA, Glycolic Acid, Hamamelis virginiana (Witch Hazel) Distillate, Polysorbate-20, Purified Water, Sodium Benzoate, Zinc PCA.

I've been using this toner pads for more than 3 months now, and i must say that i am absolutely loving it! I am acne-prone and i just can't get my hands off my face...i tend to prick my pimples (eeewww, i know!) and my laziness to pay my derma a visit makes me experiment on new products coming out in the market, which of course would only lead to more infections and harsh reactions. (sniff)

some anti-acne toners that i used only made my skin a lot more red (trust me, even redder that those in the pics i've posted earlier) and super dry. i actually gave up on toners that i just go directly on applying my creams...but having an oily skin like mine really needs the help of a good toner.

good thing my derma suggested this to me...my prayers are answered!

Directions:

  • Wipe the entire affected area with a pad one to three times daily.
  • Because excessive drying of the skin can occur, start with one application daily, then gradually increase to two or three times daily if needed or as directed by a physician.
  • If bothersome dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day.

    what i love:
  • doesn't sting! i used to have really big and red pimples, and no matter how inflamed they are, this toner won't sting!
  • doesn't make my skin dry...not at all! it actually makes my skin feel moisturized even without a moisturizer
  • the pad has the right amount of solution...so no wasting!
  • cheap. well, for something that really works (at least for me), this is a cheaper alternative than those that i've tried. i got this for Php800 (i think lesser) for 60 pads. So that's Php400 a month since i only use this at night.
  • no smell. maybe it has a bit, but being sensitive with scents, this one doesn't annoy me.

what i hate:

  • the packaging. it's so bulky that it takes a lot of space when i bring it with me for overnights. but i don't think toner pads can be repackaged differently, no? so i guess i just have to live with it. heheheh

yep, just one thing that i hate about it. because for me, this product is heaven-sent!

of course, it may have worked for me but it may not work for you. you'd need to try it out yourself. just make sure that when you've finally found a product that works for you, stick with it and stop experimenting with other products...who knows, you'll just end up aggravating the problem.

in short...do not be like ME.

LOL!

my skin care regimen...

weeks ago, i got an email from a reader telling me how good my skin looks...and asked me what products i've been using. of course, i did tell her that it's just makeup...and it's true! my skin is FAAAAR from being great. but i must admit, it has gotten better ever since i went back to OBAGI last January.

If my derma's reading this post, she'd surely agree if i say that i am so mean with my skin. i am so lazy to pay her a visit to have regular facials, diamond peels, etc. and i am SO fond of pricking! i'll only drop by her clinic when my skin is really terrible and my face already looks like it has grown out from a bunch of pimples. i also tend to change my skin regimen out of a whim. each time i'd see new products, curiosity would kill me and i'll end up trying them. then, my face will react...and so i'll try another set of new products...and the cycle goes on.

I remember my last visit with her last December (yeah, it's been that looonnng!) when i got tons of sermon because my skin was acting up again. bumps here...pimples here...so baaadd! then she advised me (for the nth time) to stick to the regimen that worked for me and stop experimenting...and to my surprise, the stubborn me finally decided to listen.

She told me to get back to OBAGI and added a few more items on my skin care regimen. And i've been using them ever since...and i am glad that it works!

so, for my morning regimen:

1. Use orange soap (not in the picture) to wash my face. I got this soap from her and i can say it's really good! It doesn't sting and doesn't dry up my skin.

2. Pat a damp cotton with the L'oreal White Perfect toner on my face and neck. This she didn't recommend...but i'm such a sucker for whitening products that i decided to try this one...and i love it!

3. Apply Garnier eye roll-on on my eye area. Again, not suggested by her but i love the depuffing effect. I then pat Olay Regenerist eye serum on top.

4. Apply Obagi Clear all over my face...i apply more on those really dark spots.

5. Apply Obagi Exfoderm Forte. This product from Obagi is what i love the most. It really helped me get rid of those stubborn bumps i got from pricking.

6. Apply Obagi Sunfader which is not only a sunblock but also helps in whitening dark spots.

7. Nivea Whitening Cream on my neck and decolletage

yep, too much products on my face during the day...and all of them being cream-based (Obagi), i am surely to look like an oil mine by midday so i always make sure that i carry oil-blotting papers with me.

and my night regimen:

1. Orange soap to wash my face. But i make sure that prior to washing my face, i remove all traces of makeup using a makeup remover and then wipe it with wet wipes. Sometimes (like 2-3x a week), i use a facial scrub to de-clog my pores

2. Wipe Solvere toner pads all over my face. I've always been allergic to benzoyl and my derma told me that Salicylic also helps to get rid of bumps and pimples. I am loving this product and making sure that i have lots of stock! For my neck, i still use the L'oreal toner.

3. Garnier eye roll-on and Olay Regenerist eye serum

4. Obagi Clear

5. Obagi Blender mixed with tretinoin.

6. Nivea whitening cream on my neck and decolletage.

WARNING: the next pictures are scary...so if you don't want to get nightmares, close this window now. LOL

see...now you know how scary i look without any makeup on!

my face gets red easily...in fact, when i try out foundation at the counter and have the SA remove my makeup, it's the one thing they will notice. they get scared that they would end up asking me to remove my makeup instead! lol

but as compared with my face months ago...the bumps really lessened and i rarely get pimples now. i still get red easily but don't worry, the redness goes away after sometime. my derma asked me to be more GENTLE with my face...like not wipe it too harsh. but i just don't listen...(grins)

so there's my skin care regimen...i hope i didn't scare you to death though!
and yeah, i'll try to visit my derma more often...:)

meowwww!

i was out this Saturday for a gig...so sad that i wasn't able to attend MAC Hello Kitty's launch at Glorietta (sniff). there was some sort of an event near the hotel where i met with my clients so i really had a hard time getting a cab going to the mall.

but you know me...i will never give up! hah!

and so after almost 2hrs of waiting for a cab, here's what i got:

i love the packaging!

Beauty Powder in Pretty Baby

Lip conditioner in Popster

lipstick in Cutester

Grand Duo in Hot Planet (me also want Intenso!)

packaging is so cool and stylish! i remember having a lot of HK items way back in Grade school and Highschool..but those are in PINK...and this HK in gorgeous black is for big girls!

are you kidding me? i will not have my empty HK containers replaced for a free lipstick! not evah!

i also got a free cupcake and bag (woot)

the cupcake's so cute that i promised myself not to eat it...

Align Center
i attempted actually...

but i stayed strong!

and then...

i gave in! (i am just human...hahhaa)
i kept the HK logo though

and that's me looking all tired...but happy!

(and yeah, my earnings went straight to my loot...hahahah)

tata!
