LA Splash Smitten Waterproof Liptint Mousse in Charmed, Lovegood and Nymph-adora

And so after hearing a lot of good (and some bad) things about these long-wearing matte lipsticks from LA Splash, I finally gave in and ordered a few.  Inggiterang palaka, I know.  But after trying them, I told myself I should've jumped into the bandwagon a long time ago.  And maybe, just maybe, this blog post won't be this late.  Hahaha, but that's fine.  I'm used to being outdated. And besides, my wallet won't like it if I always try to be updated with what's new in the makeup industry.  Tee-hee!

For today's post, it will be about the three shades that I got from the LA Splash Smitten Lip Tint Mousse. Believe me, I had a hard time choosing shades.  There are a number available at DTCMakeup site, and as much as I wanted to get everything, I had to keep myself from doing so.  Thank god for Sol, for guiding me and suggesting shades that she knows I would wear.  That's one thing that I love about her, unlike other sellers, she won't be pushing you to buy stuff that she knows you won't even get to use.  So yes, I highly recommend her and her shop.

These lippies are so pigmented and the color stays true all day.  I'm pretty sure you've come across some lippies that change color as the day go by.  These lippies don't.  It's liquid-y when first applied and then dries up to a waterproof and smudgeproof finish that will not transfer (as long as you let it set first). It might fade a bit on the inner part of the lips, but overall, it still looks fine...at least for me.  Not sure for the others though.

So here are the shades that I got from this line:

Rimmel Oh My Gloss! in Go Gloss or Go Home and Snog

Are you a lip gloss kind of person? I am! For me it's the fastest way to put some colour on your lips without having to worry that you'd look too made up after.  They have a bit of colour and have a lovely, shiny finish.   I'm not really a fan of matte lippies but if ever I wear them, I apply a bit of lipgloss on the middle of my lips. It makes my lips appear fuller and look like I have a perfect pout.

I was sent some samples of the Rimmel Oh My Gloss! lip glosses and today I'd be sharing with you some swatches and my thoughts on them.  These lip glosses are part of Rita Ora's collaboration with Rimmel called the Colourfest Lips and Nail Color Collection for 2015 Spring/Summer season. I've posted some information and some swatches of the nail colours in this collection some months ago and if you want to check it out, please click here.

MYLBB: Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in RD203

So many times I've tried, but I still lean towards pinkish nudes when it comes to lip colors.  I try to be adventurous as I can, but I think I just can't be as adventurous as I am with eye makeup.

That being said, let me share with you today a lipcolor that I have loved, and still loving, since the day I got it.

Shiseido Lacquer Rouge RD203
Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in RD203

I got my first tube from the Dutyfree in US and since then, this tube never left my makeup kit.  Or maybe at times it did. LOL!

This is my emergency go-to lippie on days that I can't seem to decide what shade to wear or when I realize come mid-day that my lipstick is a bit off with my look. IMHO, this shade is universal at it can match any makeup look.

Shiseido Lacquer Rouge RD203 swatch
See how purrtttyy this shade is?

It reminds me of my another favorite, the MAC Please Me.

It applies smoothly on the lips and it doesn't feel heavy. It's moisturizing but not sticky. Pigmentation is great too. For this particular shade, it comes off a bit sheer but can totally be layered for more opacity.

How about you, what is your go-to lippie?

L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints in Blushing, Elude and Hot Mess

I've been lemming over the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks since I first saw swatches online, but the "occasional" kuripot in me kept myself from giving in, so I haven't bought a single tube until now.  So whenever I drop by Sephora, I just try to appease myself by swatching them (kahit paulit-ulit na) and keep on reminding myself that I don't really need them.  I have a lot of lipsticks already and I am not really a lipstick-person to begin with, so why add more to that "unnecessary" clutter?  But then again I remember that it's what I love doing...trying out new/old stuff so I can write about it and share my two cents via this blog.  And besides, I can't really say No to makeup.  If you can, hat's off. But if you are like me, then let's do a high five!

So when I came across a blog post about the "SAVE" version of the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks, I got really excited to get my hands on them. A lot of people have been saying that they are the cheaper alternative while some people say otherwise. I have to try it out and see for myself, but I am not really fond of buying makeup online. Not unless I've tried the products before. I really prefer seeing them and swatching them first.  So for the meantime, I just put these Glazed Lip Paints in my list of What-To-Buy (among other things, hahah!) when I get home to PH, because I heard that these babies are already available in SM.  And so when I got the chance to go to SM, you pretty much know what happened next.  (wink!)

There's a number of shades available, including the usual baby and hot pinks but I only got these three:

Happy Skin X Preview Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lippies in Too Cool and Hot Stuff

I know these lippies have been out for almost two months now, but what the heck, I still want to share my own thoughts about it.  When I got back here in PH, these lippies are the first ones that I looked for when we went to the mall. These are limited editions and after seeing swatches online, I just knew I had to get my hands on them.

Preview X Happy Skin Lippies
Preview X Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippies

Preview Magazine collaborated with Happy Skin Cosmetics to come up with these editorial-worthy, limited-edition matte lippies for their 20th Anniversary.  I'd say editorial-worthy because the shades aren't really for everyday use (and for the faint-hearted, LOL!)  But if you don't give a damn on what people would think about you on why you are wearing attention-grabbing lip colors such as these, then go ahead.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Brigitte

Ah finally, my first NARS lipstick!  And yes, it's named after me.  Hahaha, I wish!  All these 40 shades from the Audacious lipstick line are named after women who have inspired Francois Nars.  I'm just lucky may katukayo ako among these women.
^_^

These lippies were launched Fall of last year and one of my blogger friends told me that one  of the shades has my name. It got me excited since it's the first time there's a makeup with my name but I never got to check it out until last month. O-ha, my EQ has indeed levelled-up with regards to buying makeup.  Hindi na ako ganon kaadik, I think.  Hahaha.

Priced at AED 165, this has got to be the most expensive lippie in my stash.  I must admit I was hesitant to buy it at first, because 1) I am not really a lippie-kind-of-person and 2) I already have a lot!  So I couldn't really justify the moolah I'd be shelling out for just one lipstick. But then again, it has my name on it eh!  So I know I really need to buy it.  Okay fine, don't judge me.

Swatched and Reviewed: Revlon Ultra HD Lipsticks in Gladiolus, Iris and Poppy

Revlon Ultra HD Lipsticks
(AED 52)

I think this is the newest line of lipstick from Revlon (one of my favourite drugstore brands, and probably yours too!) which claims to be made of wax-free high-definition gel technology that will deliver true color clarity without the heavy feel.

It comes in 20 shades, all named after flowers, but I think we only have 14 shades available here in the UAE.  Not sure as I only read it somewhere, but let me get back to you on that!
^_^

875 Gladioulus - 850 Iris - 895 Poppy

The packaging comes in reflective silver tubes and clear plastic caps that makes it easier to see the actual color of the lippie. Unlike most lipsticks, these are cut in a slanted way which I think makes it hard to apply the lip color directly from the tube and without getting some color outside your lips.  But maybe that's just me!  The stick also doesn't twist all the way down, making it easy to be nicked when you are taking off the cap or putting it back on.

Iris - Gladiolus - Poppy

These shades that I got have great pigmentation. They don't come off as opaque as I want them to be on the first swipe, but they are definitely buildable.

Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Dusty Pink...

I've first posted about the Bobbi Brown Art Sticks a year ago and I did say that I'd try to get my hands on other shades. Well, I finally did!  But since I don't have a lot of extra moolah, I chose the shade that I think would suit me best (next to nudes!), Dusty Pink!

Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Dusty Pink
(AED 155)

It does suit me, right?
^_^

I try my best to explore other shades than my usual nudes and pinks, but what can I do, I always gravitate towards these two shades.  I really wish I can be as adventurous with lippies as much as I am with my eye makeup. I guess I can call myself "chicken" when it comes to wearing bolder lip colors.

Just like my first Bobbi Brown Art Stick, this baby is moisturizing on the lips and stays put for a good 4-5 hours.

My eyes are still on the other Art Stick shades.  I wish we won't have to wait for another year to see another shade on this blog.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Lacqe

I've always been intrigued in one of the makeup brands here in the UAE called Bourjois.  I remember getting my first Bourjois items a few years ago from my Ate Grace who lives in UK.  She sent me these cute blush compacts from the brand and I just loved them to bits.  I think I actually hit the pan on those. I wanted to check out more stuff from the brand but sadly, Bourjois is not available in PH.

When I got an invite to a Bourjois event some few weeks ago, I was heartbroken that it is going to be on a weekday. Seriously PR people, why do you do events on a weekday and during office hours? Why, oh why!?

(wipes tears and goes back to this post)

A few hours later, I saw that Bourjois launched their new line of lippies called Aqua Lacqe. I've been meaning to check it out but given my new work location and schedule, I just didn't get the chance yet.  Good thing, some of the shades are included in the goodie bag that I got during the recent Oblogger Party. YAY!

Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque
(AED 79)
The non-sticky formula glides on easily, creating a water-light sensation on the lips. And what's more, it has Nymphaea extract to smooth and moisturise.  It is available in 8 mouth-watering shades, from soft nudes to statement brights. THE AQUA FACTOR? Once applied, it doesn't run or feather so no need for a lip liner.
Shades available:
01 Appechissant, a punchy nude color for a healthy glow
02 Rose on the rock, A rose nude shade.
03 Brun'croyable, a brown shade, not chestnut with a hint of pink, red and caramel for an incredible result
04 Viens si tu roses, not really pink or red and is almost a raspberry color.
05 Red my lips, an intense red which asserts its personality
06 Feeling reddy, packed full of energy which immediately gives you a boost
07 Fuchsia perche, a fuchsia without a little blue for a more wearable look
08 Babe idole, a bright pink

Happy Skin Shut Up And Kiss Me StyLIZed Collection

It was February of last year when Happy Skin first collaborated with a Pinay celebrity to come up with a limited edition lippie shade. It was then with Ms. Kris Aquino and if you know Kris (doesn't need to be personally, though), you'd know her famous choice of lipcolor is pink. It was called Valentine Kiss, and it's the perfect shade of pink: fierce but feminine, attention-grabbing but still classy.

Fast forward to this year, around the same month as of last year, Happy Skin had another collaboration. O di ba, akala ninyo brands lang like MAC ang may collab ha! Mali kayo dyan! Hehehe.  This time, it's with Ms. Liz Uy, a Pinay celebrity stylist and fashion editor.  After months of working closely together, the lovely Liz and our equally lovely ladies behind Happy Skin came up with not one, but three must-have lippie shades.  Bongga!

The collection is called StyLIZed and consists of three lippie shades that each woman should have in her makeup kit: nude, pink and red.

The lippies can be bought at Php599 each or by set of 3 which comes in either an acrylic pouch at Php1799 (photo above) or in a slim leather case at Php1400 (sorry no photo).

Crayons For Big Girls: Chunky Funky Lips by Wojooh Beauty

I've been noticing that these past few weeks, lip color launches are happening left and right. I've been getting lipstick samples more often and I think if you'd do a search on my blog right now, I'd have more of lippie features/reviews than anything else! But don't get me wrong, I am not complaining as it actually gives me more opportunity to try out different brands, formulations, finishes and well, shades.  Alam nyo naman, bet ko lang is nude colors. Give me a tube of MAC Peachstock and MAC Please Me and I'm good. But now, I have a number of favourites already...which makes me think that I probably need to post a blog on it soon!

Last month, I was given some samples of the Chunky Funky Lips from Wojooh. I call these babies the Crayons for Big Girls, hahaha!  They remind me of the Bobbi Brown Art Sticks, only that they are smaller and cheaper!

Rimmel Kate Bright Lipstick in Shades 35 and 38

With the temperature rising as high as 38C during the day, it really means that Summer is here in the sandpit.  Though it's not yet as humid, it really feels like the heat is piercing thru the skin. I don't really mind getting a tan, uso yan pag summer eh. Pero ang skit sa balat ng init!  I won't just get a tan, I'd be burnt...toasted, even! So yes, I am not a fan of the summer season.  Lalo ng summer dito sa UAE.  We get a temperature as high as 50C (sometimes, higher pa) so just imagine.

But if there's one thing I like about summer, that would be the array of bright colors that make this season so festive. You know the drill, as the temperature rises, colors go brilliantly bright and as the temperature gets lower, colors go darker. And I'd always go for bright colors. It lifts up the mood and makes everything look so happy and light.

Rimmel, probably one of the drugstore brands that makes the best lipsticks out there, came up with the Kate Bright Spring Summer 2015 Collection for the lips.  The exotic palette of colors were created by the style icon herself, Kate Moss and inspired by palm-fringed bridges and magenta sunsets.

Rimmel London Kate Bright Spring Summer 2015 Collection
(AED 49/each)

The collection comes with 5 all-new shades of the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate, which she personally picked to evoke dreamy holiday destinations: tangerine tones of shade #37, punchy pink hues of #34, #35 and #36 and a fabulously fresh touch of pink nude with #38.

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in Shanghai Sizzle and Parisian Passion

It's a Monday once again, my loves!  And though today isn't everybody's favourite, let's try to be more positive here shall we?  I know it sucks because it's the start of another work week for others, mine started yesterday though I didn't come in to work, so technically my work week starts today as well.  But time flies so fast, it's gonna be the weekend again before we know it.  And it's gonna be payday weekend for me so yes, I can't wait!
^_^

If there's one drugstore brand that I have featured the most on this blog, it has got to be Revlon. It's no surprise since I really love the brand.  It's one of the makeup brands that I've played with when I started with makeup.  If I remember it right, my first Revlon product is the lippie in the shade Pink in the Afternoon.  Was it that or the Colorstay liquid foundation? Ugh, old age. Tee-hee!  Anyway for today, let me do the pleasure of featuring the brand once again.

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain

Enriched with a new formula, these moisture stains offer the shine of a lipgloss, the hydration of a lip balm, the wear of a lip stain and the colour intensity of the lipstick.

More Happyskin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippies...

I am not really into lippies, but if there's one brand that will never fail to make me hold my breath whenever they come up with new shades, it has got to be Happy Skin.  To date, their Shut Up & Kiss Me lippies (most especially The Morning After) are still among my favorites.  They apply like a dream, have an amazing pigmentation and never dries up my lips.

I've posted swatches of the first Happy Skin lippies I got my hands on months ago (check it out here) and today, I'd be showing you their new shades available. Actually, they aren't really new because they have been out for months already. I knowww, I am so darn late.

My Barney Lips...

I love you, you love me
Let's go out and kill Barney
With a shot gun bang! bang!
Barney's on the floor,
No more stupid dinosaur!

(evil laugh)

Okay, before somebody kills me for killing Barney, let me show you probably one of the boldest lip color that I have to date:

(excuse the red marks on my face...and don't get me started with my lady mustache!)

I'm wearing here Revlon's Colorburst Matte Balm in Shameless which I've been dying to have since the first time I saw a swatch online. I've waited for months before I finally got my hands on it because unfortunately, product launches are a bit (such an understatement, really) delayed here in the UAE. This particular line from Revlon has been out in PH early this year while it just got released here a week ago.

Anyways, I got this lippie while on vacation in PH.  I saw these lippies at Watsons in SM Baguio and though I wanted to get more, the remaining shades they have are those I'm not really excited about.  I want Unapologetic, Showy, Complex and Elusive but they were all sold out. GAH!

Good thing Shameless is still available.  But guess what, it was their last piece!

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm

The packaging reminds me of their Just Bitten Balm Stains. It's retractable, so no need to worry about keeping a sharpener for this chubby crayon. The packaging also matches the actual shade, so no need for you to pop the cover to check out the color. It gives an amazing burst of moisture and color in one swipe! Despite that, it doesn't feel heavy on the lips.  I love their Colorburst lipsticks, but I think I love this line more.

Product Swatches + short review on NYX Butter Gloss

For those who aren't much into lipsticks (like me!), here's something that you might want to consider the next time you want to get some color on your lips...

the NYX Butter Glosses!

As per NYX website:
Add a little more sweetness to your lips with a touch of the Butter Lip Gloss available in 12 scrumptious colors! Get creamy sheer to medium coverage on your lips without that sticky sensation. It’s perfect for every sweet tooth!

Cherry Cheesecake
(Orange)

Apple Strudel
(Peach)

Creme Brulee
(Natural)

Eclair
(Pink)

Cherry Pie
(Red)

Maple Blonde
(Deep Peach)

Merengue
(Pink Lilac)

Strawberry Parfait
(Fuchsia)

Peach Cobbler
(Red Orange)

Peaches and Cream
(Pink Coral)

Tiramisu
(Brown)

Vanilla Cream Pie
(Mauve)

The formula applies smoothly and feels like butter. Starts off as sheer,  but color is buildable. It can be worn by itself or layered over a lipstick.  They're still a bit sticky, but not the goopy kind of sticky.  It doesn't feel heavy on the lips and staying power is good.

My faves are:  Peaches and Cream, Strawberry Parfait, Vanilla Cream Pie and Maple Blonde.

It comes with a vanilla-ish kind of scent, that might be a con for others but not for me. Priced at Php270 and are available at Digitaltraincase.

Today's the last day of the 20% promo in Multiply, so if you want to try these, you might want to take advantage of the discounted price.  Check out the new items as well. Just a warning though: be ready to spend...as I am very sure that you'd be able to find one, or more items to checkout!
