i was feeling lazy today, so i decided to shy away from a lot of colors and blending and trying out new color-combos so i decided to go with my most fave look: pinks and purples. but this time, i decided to try out the pigments i got from MAC as well as the blush.
used: Modelco browkit in Dark, UDPP all over the lids, MAC pigment in Helium applied wet using my home-made mixing medium from lash lines up to the lid just below the crease, Lumiere 3D e/s in Hushed applied on top of MAC Helium up to just below the browbones, MEOW Feliner in Declawed applied using home made mixing medium on the upper and lower lash lines, TBS Lightening Touch concealer applied on the undereyes and topped with OM Saffron Concealer and Maybelline Express Volume Mascara in Brown.
used: Smashbox Photofinish Light primer, MUFE Mat Velvet Liquid Foundation in shade 25, MAC blush in Dollymix, Smashbox lip primer on the lips then topped with TFS Lipstick.you might be wondering why i still applied mineral e/s on top of the MAC Helium pigment. The thing was, when i spritzed my brush with the mixing medium and dipped it on some of the pigments and mixed it and applied it on my lids, the mixture became cakey. I had a hard time blending it. Maybe blame it on the brush that i used (Elianto e/s brush, even tried my Fanny Serrano e/s brush) or the mixing medium or i'm just plain stupid in applying them wet using a mixing medium. ARRGGGHHH..
I don't wanna lose hope on this mixing medium and most esp not on applying pigments wet, especially the ones i got from MAC! so dear ladies, please help me...i am now thinking of taking Mikee's suggestion (MAC SA) to use a cream eyeshadow as base before applying pigments. but i've seen tutorials of other ladies using MAC pigments with their mixing mediums (MAC or the home-made one) so maybe it's the brush? or maybe it's just me? waaahhh....
anyways, let me just say that i love MAC blush in Dollymix though in the pics, i look like a clown...i look normal in person, promise! LOL! This blush looks berry red in the pan but i applied it using my 187 brush and it did make wonders. i look refreshed, minus the eyebags please. again..ignore them.
and like i've said, being a SUTIL person that i am...i am not giving up on applying these pigments wet...not yet!

the problem when foiling pigments/mmu eyeshadow (applying wet) is that you ought to be fast in blending, else it will dry up and appear cakey, which is really very difficult to blend. if that happens, moisten your brush again and TRY to correct the mistake.
i guess using a brush a tad firmer (but still soft.. just a little but firmer than the usual e/s brush) will help.
oh, btw.. i still do not use mixing medium because i can't seem to find glycerine. i tried going to drugstores but the people there will just throw me sill looks when i ask them. ugh!

Liz is right, you have to work fast when foiling piggies or dampen the brush again then pick up piggies again to reapply. But for me, i apply the piggies wet then blend the colors after, by which they will be dry. You are right by saying that using the correct brush makes a lot of difference. I use 217SE when applying piggies (even e/s) and I used to use it as a blending brush too. But after sometime I find that I do need a clean brush just for blending so I got Sonia Kashuk blending brush. It is comparable to MAC 224. If it also helps, I just dampen my brush by spritzing some homemade mixing medium and not totally wet the whole brush. If you got it soaking wet, you can let a tissue paper absorb the extra solution. Keep trying you'll get it! ;)
also, if Mikee suggested you use a cream base, either a MAC shadestick or paint pot might help to make the colors appear more vibrant and stay longer. ;)

it may be your brush. for applying pigments wet, make sure you're using a SYNTHETIC taklon brush. :] i'm not sure if the brush you're using is a synthetic taklon brush but those are the brushes that work best for me when i foil. also, are you dabbing the brush on a dry paper towel a few times after spritzing? to make sure it's not too wet? :] or maybe it's not damp enough and that's why it's clumping? :] i'm glad you haven't given up on it yet because practice and persistence is so important with makeup. hehe. :] i say just keep experimenting with different techniques, changing things around and you're bound to find something that works for you! :]
