Product Review: Palgantong Make-Up Theatrical Powder

as a fan of liquid foundations, using a setting powder on top of the foundation is an essential step. it helps keep your make up stay put and it helps in keeping those oilies at bay. i've used a lot of brands already: MAC, Krayolan, etc...but let me share with you another discovery that i am currently addicted with.

Palgantong Make-Up Theatrical Powder

"Theatrical powder from Korea is make up of Ceramin ingredient from UK. The size of particles is just half as the other particles. It reflects more light from your skin to even the tone with natural appearance. Thin and comfortable, brighten your skin just like Movie Star. So, it is also called “Star Powder” in Japan and Korea.

Over these 10 years, this powder is commonly used in Korean Movies, TV programme and drama. Over 5,000,000 powder were sold in Japan, as No.1 loose powder in Japan.
"

(description taken from Sasa.com)

comes with a puff

and neatly sealed
(reminds me of mineral makeup foundation in pots)

swatch of the shade in Beige

Purederm BB cream
Palgantong Make-Up Theatrical Powder
MAC Tippy blush
Cinemasecrets concealer

what i love:
powder is really fine and melts into the skin
no allergic reactions
completely matte, keeps my uber-oily face oil-free for at least 4hrs without blotting
gives velvety, airbrushed skin finish. it really does make pores appear a lot less visible
i've used this as a primer beneath mineral makeup foundation and it works great!
gives out a healthy glow
i've read that those who use this hates the puff that comes with it. i must say that i do like it...to apply the powder, you just have to pat it on your skin and not wiping. i also apply it with a stippling brush.
doesn't make you look cakey or unnatural
i find that the shade in Beige matches most people, besides, it goes on translucent
fairly priced at Php600 for a 30g pot
made in Korea but can be bought locally thru an online seller: Wehaveit43

what i hate:
the smell. funny but it reminds me of those make up used by grandmas ^_^
since it comes in a pot and powder is loose, using this can be a bit messy
limited shades available, i think there are only 2 shades
provides no coverage, so for those with blemishes, you still need a medium-heavy coverage foundation and apply this on top. it's a setting powder anyways...

i've been using this a lot more often these days and it helps me cut down my oil-blotting sheets usage. the airbrushed finish it provides also help me conceal those nasty scars that i got from my recent breakouts. i have put my Shu Uemura and MUFE HD loose powders aside in favor of this. I can say that this is my current HG setting powder. :)

will i purchase again?
i definitely will. but i would like to get those in bigger containers as I am sure this is one product i wouldn't afford to run out of.

for those interested, you can buy this product from Wehaveit43. they offer a wide range of brands selection even those hard-to-find Korean items.

if you don't feel comfortable buying online, you can also visit their store at:
