Product Review: NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation

NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation

NYX's new line of liquid foundation is formulated from HD photogenic synthesis. When light hits skin, the diffusing effect of the foundation reflects the light to make skin appear smooth and reduce the appearance of pores. The foundation covers skin flawlessly with tri-peptides infused to promote collagen generation, reduce wrinkles and rejuvenate skin. The HD Studio Foundation is ideal for everyday use, professional shoots and shows under bright lights.

8 shades available: Nude, Soft Beige, Natural, Sand Beige, Medium, Natural Beige, Warm Sand and California Tan

Nude, Soft Beige and Natural

pump dispenser is definitely a plus!

in Nude shade:

[Left to Right]: Nude, Soft Beige and Natural

again, be ready to be scared....

see, all those redness and pimple scars???

now. where did they go?

after applying Shu Uemura loose powder:

i've been using this for weeks now, so it's time for my review...

what i love:
provides medium to heavy coverage
natural, matte look finish
no need for a separate concealer for the undereyes and blemishes
hygienic pump dispenser
stays put all day, but for those with oily skins, remember to use a good primer
no whitish cast
really looks good in photos as it minimizes, if not makes the pores non-existent
a little goes a long way
easy to apply by either your fingers or brush. i personally prefer applying it with a stippling brush
feels like 2nd skin
no allergic reactions
no oxidizing
skin feels soft and velvety after blending
it comes with a plastic packaging, so i don't worry about breaking it as i always drop my stuff when in a hurry (i already broke 2 bottles of MAC SF..sniff)
cheaper than other HD liquid foundations, priced at $20 at NYX online and Php750 at Digitaltraincase

what i hate:
i hate that i can't find an exact match. Nude is too light on me, and Soft Beige a tad darker. so yeah, i would have to buy both shades and mix.

Smashbox Photofinish light primer
NYX HD liquid foundation in Nude + Soft Beige
Shu Uemura loose powder
NYX HD blush in Georgia Peach
NYX lipcreme in Antwerp

i honestly forgot what shades i used...sorry!

overall, i love this foundation. IMHO, it works like MUFE HD foundation but cheaper. i use this on top of my current HG sunblock + primer (which i'll be posting soon) and it would stay put the whole day. so yeah, i'll definitely buy this...actually, i already ordered a couple of shades for me and my clients. ^_^

tips:

for those with oily skins, apply a primer beneath
apply a thin layer and build coverage as needed
as with other liquid foundations, top this with a setting powder to help keep it in place. i suggest using a setting powder and not a powder foundation to avoid looking cakey. this foundation has good coverage and you don't really need another "heavy" layer of powder on top.
personally, i prefer using a brush for more even application
shake the bottle before using

i love anything HD..who wouldn't want to look flawless in pictures, anyway!?

tata!

thanks to Sol for letting me try this foundation. i had to beg for her to let me sample (and empty) the testers. i am seriously considering not to return them actually. hahaha!
