Product Review: MAC 182 buffer brush

A full, dome-shaped brush of extra soft goat hair. Specially created to flawlessly blend powder onto the skin for an immaculate polished finish. Excellent for all M·A·C powders and pigments.*

When i joined the number of people getting crazy over mineral foundations, i got so gaga over kabuki brushes. My first one was from Smashbox, which isn't a kabuki brush really...but it did the job. when i got my BE starter kit, i so loved the kabuki brush that went with it. sadly, after a few months, it started to shed like crazy and became scratchy.
Then i saw this MAC 182 buffer brush. It was love at first sight, but the cost made me step back. It costs Php2500 here in Phils and heck, it's too much. (but i got myself MAC 187 which costs more..lol)

so this brush went to my wishlist, and it did stay there for a long time. hehehhe
and X came to the rescue...lol.

what i love:
  • the soft, densely packed hairs. it's really great on giving you that flawless look when using powders.
  • doesn't shed. hmmm, well it did shed the first time i used it (after washing) but it was just like a few strands and though i use mine almost everyday and wash it 2-3x a week, it no longer sheds.
  • i've read some reviews that it smells bad...good thing, mine doesn't.
  • it's size is just perfect for my hands and for storing in my vanity kit. it's so perfect for travelling!

size comparison with my Ellana buffer brush (which is equally nice too!)
what i hate:
  • the price. but i got mine as a gift, so there's really nothing to hate about it. lol

will i buy again:

No. i don't think there would be a need...since this one's gonna last me a long time. (wink)

Now, if you ask me if this is one brush that's a must-buy, i would say no. Because, you can get the same results from using other buffer brushes like that of Ellana's which is a lot cheaper. But of course, i don't think the latter is great for travelling...you don't want to scare the next person beside you if they see you take the Ellana brush from your kit and just start buffing your face. LOL. there's also the BE kabuki brush but like what i've said, it sheds like crazy and your face would get irritated after months of using it.

if you have extra moolah, get this buffer brush...but it's not really something that you can't live without.

my last words?

it's expensive...but worth it.

tata!
