last month, while checking out some Shiseido items for my mom, i got to see this Mascara Base and i remembered reading a lot of good reviews about it including that of Nessa's.
depending on what mascara i'd use, i also tend to have thin lashes so i wanted to give this a try.

this mascara base promises to boost volume and curl, and it has Multi-nutrient factor which is an advanced moisturizer.
priced at Php1750...pretty steep, so i was kinda hesitant to get it at first. but the great reviews enabled me. tee-hee.
now, on with the review:
just my curled lashes using Shu Uemura lash curler
curled lashes + mascara base
(notice that you can actually use it on its own. once it dries up, it gives you that thicker natural looking lashes...and yeah, it did hold the curl)
curled lashes + mascara base + 2 coats of L'oreal Telescopic Mascara
(i used L'oreal because it gives you a clean finish...i actually don't like it when used alone since it doesnt really boost the volume, but i love to use it for my falsies)
now here's my other eye:
curled with no base + 2 coats of mascara
(the curl was kinda pulled down, had to curl it using my Modelco Lash Wand because the L'oreal Mascara tends to pull the curl)
more pics for comparison:
(left eye with mascara base, right eye no mascara base)
PROS:
- holds the curls
- can be used on its own
- really maximizes the volume
- stays put
CONS:
- hefty price tag
- the brush wand is kinda big, but you'll get used to it :)
WILL I REPURCHASE?
Definitely. I also use this to my clients who really has thin, almost non-existent lashes. You don't need to use a lot. But i am just not sure if like mascaras, i would need to throw this away after 3-4 months. This isn't a must-buy product though. You can still achieve thicker lashes by piling up on mascaras. But what if the only mascara you have doesn't really give you that ommphh and worse, pulls the curl down? hehehe, yeah i am trying to complicate things and convince you to buy. (kiddin')
IAMSUTIL gives this item 2 thumbs up!
how about you? do you use any mascara base? i do have another mascara base from another brand, will review it soon.
'til next review! ;)

wow! you could totally see the difference! very nice review!
but it is pretty expensive...
Wow! It made such a huge difference on your comparison photo. Hmmm... I wonder why my friend at the Shiseido counter didn't tell me anything about it?
wow, sis! that was great! there really was a huge difference! i want i want! :)
hi nikki, is that the maybelline with the white primer at one end and a black mascara on the other? if it is, i've tried it before and i get a hard time concealing the white part. hehehe...also, it pulls down the curl :( with shiseido, you can actually use it on its own and i love the way it holds up the curl. (ok, i now sound like a saleslady na..tee-hee)
